BANGKOK, 2 April 2018 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has urged civil servants nationwide to work closely with the general public to create a trust between each other.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said in a national TV broadcast that civil servants have to make a self-reform to improve their performances. The premier gave an example of the “thinking buddy” program of the Community Development Department aiming to enhance civil servants become friends the general public.

He said civil servants can use their leadership skills, academic information, and local insights to create immunity for communities and to solve local problems.

Gen Prayut called on all government officials to re-evaluate their work efficiency, and to work in a closer manner with local people in order to create trust between each other. He said it will better help solving problems rather than just exercising authority or implementing the law.

As April 1st of every year is the Civil Servants’ Day, the day that all civil servants should remind themselves to adhere to the ideology to work for the benefit of the people.

In case you haven't noticed (and it seems that you haven't), there is a giant scandal regarding civil servants stealing money on an industrial scale that was allocated for the destitute.

How about you deal with that one instead of spewing boring platitudes?

Bloody hell.

A lot of the current crop are deserving only of jail, why should the population at large have to foster relationships with those same scumbags who've spent their entire career either stealing from them or devising new and cunning ways to steal from them (at the additional expense of actually serving them).

More absolute hogwash from this fool Prayuth, how he even has the gall to still stand there preaching after all he and his cronies have put the country through, utter shit show :bah:

How about he demands instant dismissal of ANY public official and their immediate boss, loss of pay, superannuation etc., if found guilty of ANY form of corruption! Take ownership of the problem Mr PM don't divert the conversation, with warm and fuzzy platitudes, of what should be happening. The horse comes before the cart (or the buffalo comes before the plough).

in a place where meritocracy takes a back seat to all other manner of gaining jobs, it is unavoidable that the wrong people are in the wrong jobs;  thus the country is in it's dysfunctional state

That would mean he'd have to dismiss himself.

Urge, what a great word ...please do the job you are paid to do. Guess our beloved leader has just thought of that this very morning ....finally progress eh.

Yeh, they'll do that, before you can say Jack Robinson . . . but only after having bigger pockets sewn into their trousers.

Prayut overlooks the FACT that most civil servants in this country are now modelling their conduct on himself - an utter moron and now delusional to the point of being dangerous.

Reformer .....reform thyself.

Very hard for 'delusional' person/s to do.

Also Generals expect people to do what they have ordered, without consultation or any form of discussion. A reality check is not required by or in the military.

Almost dropped my coffee here...

A bit strong coming coming from a guy who "cancelled" democracy 4 years ago....

As for not enforcing the law....state officials don't need any encouragement.....it is in their DNA.....:coffee1:

How about you go first Mr. PM...

I think this type of reform will require another 130 billion, now there's an idea for you P.

Like the police they only do their day job when there's something in it for them.

You beat me to it coulson!  My first thought while reading the article headline was WHAT THE <deleted>?!  Yes, why indeed has it taken this <expletive deleted> plastic toy soldier...

Bloody hell.

Not possible when he and his cohorts are reaping the benefits of such crime as proportions of the spoils funnel all the way back to the top; that's how all the Generals become Billionaire's.

it's a good idea..... officials to work for people , however reality is different by filling their pockets or get watches

Trust.... just dont watch this government too closely (getit! - watch.... as in 2 gold watches!)

Well if you have to say it, then you know it is not happening .

Home goal Mr PM

Of course they will help the people.......... after their appropriate cut at the pig trough. How else are they going to pay for their Mercedes Benz, Mia Noi's and "international education" for their kids?

I know it's a western thing but ^ that's ^ amusing.

IMV, a symbiotic relationship between government flunkies and "the people" already exists, primarily as a cost avoidance measure.

If "the people" never got any benefit from systemic corruption, they wouldn't accept it.  They do and they're careful about throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Firstly 70% were schooled on the sofa waiting for daddy to say ok l paid you have job. You go job

Soon you pay more big job

Go job ba ba.
