BANGKOK, 3rd April 2018 (NNT) - The National Council for Peace and Order has confirmed its determination to fight corruption within the public sector.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Monday that the government and the NCPO have always stressed the importance of the anti-corruption policy and have been trying to resolve the issue, which is a time-consuming mission, especially when it comes to procedural checking requirements in the public sector.

Gen. Prayut said that while there are certainly numerous good civil servants, there are also some corrupt people and the issue has been around in the system for a long time.

The deputy spokesman of the NCPO, Col. Sirichan Ngathong said that NCPO Secretary-General Gen. Chalermchai Sitthisart has instructed all units to give priority to the anti-corruption campaign in the public sector, which the NCPO has proposed to the government.

Col. Sirichan added that the NCPO continues to welcome complaints about any suspicious activities involving civil servants via the Hotline 1299 while promising to speed up the investigation process to achieve substantial results in order to gain public trust.

Starting with...

NCPO talks lot, does nothing!

They could start with a bit more transparency about sources of wealth within their own ranks..... and the source of their power to boot.

Sorry NCPO, but that ship has sailed. Prawit and his bling was probably on the ships bridge.

Just more hot air..........

And the clock is ticking, ticking, ticking.

Like the suit. Must be new. Good opportunity to dress up and adopt a serious pose.

Yea, starting from now.

"It ain't a crime if you don't get caught" or in Thailand's case, "It ain't a crime if the NCPO don't bother to investigate you".

I think this calls for a new song to be written by the maestro himself, everyone just loves his songs.

while they may have stopped some corruption, they are not doing enough to stop actual govt department corruption, police, customs etc are still using graft everyday to further their bank accounts and this is evident to anyone that actually looks. Until they actually start to clean their own departments they will get nowhere, still too much money to be made if they look the other way and it would bring the country to a stand still if they actually did arrest all those involved in this corruption, it is too well embedded into thai society and govt positions

Starting with the bad guys.  The good guys are allowed to be corrupt.

As long as Prawit remains Deputy PM, I can't see how anyone will take them seriously. End of story.

I'm pretty sure he's just taking the pi$$ now, there is no way they could expect this statement to be taken seriously given the pathetic excuses given and apparently accepted for his Deputy's million dollar watch collection. Not to mention the insistence that any investigation into his own huge wealth is a threat to national security.

It's like they know the people have given up and they're rubbing their noses in it. The equivalent of a football team that's 5-0 up and starts showboating, to the cries of "Ole".

And does the junta count itself as public? Or private?

Please please stop Prayut...

We can't take any more.....

In a statement earlier today, you claimed, that everyone wanting free elections was just causing confusion......And members the Dinosaur Party was the only ones, who understood the true meaning of democracy...

And now you are pretending to fight corruption...which has probably doubled during your time in power....!!

Raises the question:   Are you really that ignorant or are you just taking the p**s...?

What's the time?

I see Pm trying an april fools joke (ha ha) hard to stamp out corruption when most of the government is corrupt starting with the deputy pm

Desperate man that had every opportunity but tricked the public

And still.believes there stupid lol..Please go away.

BS!!!!

Ok where can i dob in the corrupt? Complaints line send emails and wait for replies. Thats all they do. Police, or i should just say all officials from orbator to forestry. ALL CORRUPT. Ive had police out and immigration out to check me out for made up things by neighbours for whom all are gambling, logging, drug addicts, drunk, criminals and family of officials yet not once has a police officer ever done anything to even deter people from doing the wrong thing.

Great news from the PM now the hard bit just need to find some uncorrupted to enforce.

The junta is pledged to stop corruption?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Oh do stop, junta! You are just too funny - masters of the best kind of satire!

Sure they will try to root out corruption except their own. Boy what an amusing day this has been.

And meanwhile, there have been no arrests in the misappropriation of funds for the destitute scandal! Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words and the action needs to be immediate, not a long drawn out process with trials lasting years so that everyone has forgotten about the despicable acts conducted by officials!

Seems like there are some targets they will go after and some (bigger and more obvious) targets they choose to avoid. Almost like they have a little corruption issue in their own ranks?
