French man arrested in Pattaya alleged to seek profit from child porn

A 64-year-old French man, wanted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), was arrested on Thursday on charges related to child pornography in Chon Buri province.

The arrest of suspect Rachid Abdel Kader, and the search of his house in Soi Rung Land in Southern Pattaya, involved a collaboration between the FBI, Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation and the Chon Buri Immigration Police.

Officers seized as evidence the pornographic photos and video clips of Thai girls allegedly found on Kader’s home computer and on CDs and brought the man for interrogation at the Chon Buri Immigration Checkpoint Office.

Office superintendent Pol Colonel Songprod Sirisukha said Kader had spent the past decade in Pattaya after retiring. An FBI investigation recently discovered Kader had profited from downloading child pornography and sharing the materials within a group.

The FBI then contacted the DSI and Chon Buri Immigration Police to make the arrest, Songprod said.

Officers were confident they had strong evidence against the man, and transferred him to the Muang Chon Buri Police Station for processing on charges of possessing and seeking to profit from child pornography.

Maybe because they live in tropical Thailand and you don't?

Pedophilia is a mental disorder that should be treated by a psychiatrist or psychologist.

That is no reason to be half naked when police and other people arrive.  As for Tropical, well, I live in Florida, and we certainly have heat and humidity here, but before I answer the door it is at the very least common decency to present oneself a bit better.  Now, if the cops broke the door down and surprised the man, well, good riddance to the pedophile.

I guess you just answered your own question.

I very much doubt that in a case like this the police calls 30 minutes ahead, to inform the pedo that they are on the way and to get dressed.

think about it GK. they had a warrant (the thais i mean)and the FBI was involved and both didn't want him destroying evidence. if they came here they'd find me in shorts and slippers and possibly stark <deleted> naked depending on the time

Nothing said they broke the door down and stormed in.  My god you people are being silly and missing the point.   Oh and judging by the photos, that place could use a spot of painting

it certainly needs cleaning up. i just think he may not have been given the chance to put on a shirt. but hey, who cares. they got him

Fortunately, this Algerian still had his shorts,
because he could have frightened the police  :omfg:

he stayed 10 years in pattaya without being noticed...

deport him to the US, he will enjoy a very long time in jail there.

Unless the guy is Dual-Citizen (French/US) how come the FBI was on his tail instead of "Europol"?
Strange.
Or is the FBI now the "world-police", making such respectable institutions like "Europol" unnecessary?
Cheers.

Interesting to note that the US FBI is doing a better job in monitoring such pedophiles in Thailand, then the Thai police.

On a totally different direction, what if the accused's wifi was hacked and used for illicit downloading ?

One could just hope that the charges rest on undeniable evidence with no elements of doubt, as pedophilia is a serious crime that deserves the maximum penalty for those found guilty.

Still they would have knocked on his door. When I have "unwanted" visitors it takes me 5 seconds to put on a shirt.  I don't want to look like an idiot in front of people.

Well, I'd wait until he's convicted, not all allegations are true or upheld. I remember one particular case where an employee planted stuff on his boss's computer cos he wanted his boss's job. And another one from the UK, where a disabled guy was falsely accused and killed by a neighbour. The motive - he'd videoed his neighbour's children cos they were giving him grief.

"pornographic photos and video clips of Thai girls"

The usual vague reporting. So were these girls underage or not? Having pornographic material on a computer must be fairly common, if foolish, and not particularly heinous.

I would guess some of the downloaded material was shared in the US hence the FBI's involvement. Probably a follow up on a US case they've already investigated.

As for the sartorial comments - well I, for one, don't give a monkey's. What a man wears in his own home is his business.

their is obviously some thing very seriously wrong with these sorts of people.

There should be an investigation on some vendors in Sukhumvit road who openly sell child porn CDs. I've seen a cop waiting for a Farang to finish his cigarette and once he dropped the butt the cop wanted money.

But the cop didn't see the street vendors who openly sold these perverted child porn CDs.

Of course. But if you're an idiot, you don't mind at all looking like an idiot. Lots of examples walking around Pattaya, no? His appearance is the least of this guy's concerns.

I don't understand nor do I want to understand these guys.

It can't be that sex is difficult to get so they make children their target, I'm not that young any more but if/when I really fancy a bit a ten minute drive and a few baht would sort that problem.

The whole kiddy fiddler thing is beyond my ken.

I'm on the side of if guilty locked away until no longer capable of doing it or they pass away while locked away.

No time or money wasted on studies as to why they do it etc etc.

I live in Tropical Thailand, I never walk around without some clothes on my upper body, even at home. I feel trashy otherwise. And I do it out of consideration for people around me.

Pretty sure that if the arresting officers report stated, "He requested that he be able to put on a t-shirt first", that 'good conduct' should be good for at least 3 nanoseconds being shaved off his eventual incarceration.
