Hi,

 

I've read a lot of conflicting information about whether or not a fixed deposit account is acceptable when applying for an extension of stay to a Non-O visa. 

 

Can anyone provide clarification?

A fixed deposit account will be accepted as long as it is the type that allows immediate withdrawal of the funds with no penalty other than loss of interest.

    Another related question:  Does the bank account have to be in the province where one is applying for the extension?
