Non-B to tourist visa run

Featured Replies

Hello - I've been working with a work permit and non-B visa for six months but want to relax and have a holiday after my visa and work permit expire. Can I go to Myanmar for a visa run to get a tourist visa, or do I have to fly someplace? I'm trying to do this on a budget, so Ranong to Myanmar is my best option, but I'm not certain if it would work or not.

Anyone have experience with this?

You cannot get a tourist visa at a border crossing. You have to go to a embassy or consulate to apply for it.

Or are you calling a visa exempt entry a tourist visa?

A Tourist visa can only be obtained from a Thai Embassy/Consulate. In Myanmar, the Embassy is in Yangon

Hmm, I'm not certain. I just wanted to do a 30 day tourist entry at a border crossing. The last time I had to do this, it was just a 30 day entry stamp when I flew in (last March). I flew into BKK and I got a stamp upon arrival. Can I not go across the border and do that upon return any longer?

That would be a 30 day visa exempt entry not a tourist visa that allows a 60 day entry.

Okay, in that case... can I do it going to Myanmar, or do I need to fly someplace from Phuket? Is this something you are familiar with?
Thank you for your assistance and knowledge, for sure. I appreciate it.

The closest border to Phuket is Sadeo -- You should speak to one of the local "Visa Run" companies in Phuket.

Ranong / Myanmar is closer to where I am. I don't want to do a visa run company - have already done that.

You can do the crossing to Myanmar from Ranong to get a 30 day visa exempt entry.
