Ot: Upgrading A Ham Radio Licence?

Hello and greetings from cold Germany!

Maybe you have heard of a farang getting his ham radio licence upgraded to HF privileges? On the HF bands, one can reach other continents with less power than a small lightbulb takes on a homemade THB 500 antenna. Thank you in anticipation for any suggestion, experience or advice!

Hi, you can certainly get a reciprocal amateur radio licence for HF operation out here in Thailand. The primary requirement is that your existing HF licence in Germany must include morse-code proficiency. If you do not possess this, (as is now the situation in the UK for many HF operators), then you cannot get a Thai reciprocal licence and you will only be able to operate on VHF 144 MHz. So you will need to take a morse exam before you get the full HF reciprocal licence :o
