A total of 49 women have filed complaints with the police, seeking help after they were deceived into paying Bt30,000 with a promise of masseuse work in the Maldives.

The women gathered at the anti-trafficking division on Thursday.

They named Pissamai Champakwaen and Jintana Wongwicha as suspects.

They alleged that Pissamai posted messages on a Line messaging group of people seeking foreign work that she and Jintana could arrange massage jobs at luxury hotels in Maldives.

The victims said they transferred money to Jintana as they had been convinced by Passamai but they received no plane tickets.

Trafficking deputy commander Pol Col Mana Kleepsatabutr said over 100 women had been deceived but so far only 49 of them had filed complaints. He said he would seek help from the Anti-Money Laundering Office to investigate the bank accounts of the two suspects.

The suspects were unavailable for comment.

 . . . Maldives ‘scam’

Sounds like a bad rash . . . like the sort that you get when you touch a jellyfish. That's the Maldives crossed off my list for this weekend's romantic getaway.

So gullible and  greedy, i suspect the shysters know their own people very  well.

The Maldives were lovey 30 years ago, wouldnt want to go now sadly, it was a place  of quiet serenity, now its probably full of noise.

I don't look at it as stupidity, possibly gullibility but desperation is more likely. Education is nearly non existent for poor people. With limited opportunity people take risks, several women in my village have committed suicide because they looked to gamble their way to prosperity. What is hoping to better yourself by getting a better job in another country, a gamble that you may better yourself. We should all be thankful that our lives don't hinge on a $1,000 bet.

Ok not just stupid but all the above

Give us a few minutes & I'll make an Line account & display a offer you can't refuse, but for further details you will have to transfer 10,000 for a spot which are limited

Now what possibly would those overseas active massage posts,  consist of ?!!

Oh dear,  looks like there could be a shortfall

in Happy endings in the Maldives :shock1:

A famous businessman once said it was easier to borrow millions than 10 grand.

Perhaps it's the same with scams. People fuss over saving small amounts on clothes or fuel yet hand over thousands to strangers based on promises.

Humans make dogs look like geniuses.

Business opportunity for you.

The suspects left last night for the Maldives. Their bank accounts are empty.

Hows that deduction Mr Watson ?

with dreams of getting pounded  on a massage table

I suspect that the women who were really expecting legitimate massage jobs are the ones without sunglasses and face masks.

$1000 down for a chance at making $1000 per week, and that includes airfare? Helluva deal, I'd say, if it were legit. and many job brokers are legit, but not this one, apparently. Book 'em, Danno...

Do you mean the victims or the scammers, or both.
