Wissanu coy on agenda for NCPO meeting with politicians in June

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreangam continued to keep politiฌcians guessing on the topics for their meeting with the junta leader in June.
 

Wissanu said yesterday that he saw no need for politicians to learn about the topics early.

 

“They don’t need to know now. The earlier they know, the quicker they reject them and start criticising. That will only spoil the atmosphere,” he said. “When the time comes, they will know that they have to join the meeting, or they will be left behind. It’s better for them to wait. Certainly, they will know the meeting is useful.”

 

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has scheduled a meeting with representatives from political parties in June, citing the need to settle any problems that may affect their preparations for the next general election.

 

Prime Minister Prayut Chanocha, who heads the NCPO, initiated the talks, in line with a junta order issued last year.

 

Wissanu, who is in charge of the government’s legal affairs, said that even though no political parties had so far opted to attend the gathering, the NCPO and its organs would conฌvene the meeting. He said the NCPO Order No 53/2560 stated that the NCPO “may invite” political parties to attend the meeting.

Last time Prayut "invited" politicians to a meeting, he locked them all up forcefully took over the country. Maybe that's why politicians are hesitant to join?

Presumably they will be given a copy of the agenda and a rubber stamp about 30 minutes before the meeting.

What a farce, eh? Talk about yet another insult on the part of the junta. This ugly (morally) moron won't tell the politicians what the meeting is about (they are only children - not old enough to be told such things) - so is it any wonder that so far no one has said they want to join this 'meeting'? And it sounds as though it will be a 'meeting' of fiats and commands: 'you will do THIS, and you will not do THAT. This is what we call bringing harmony, happiness and real democracy back to the people'!

 

As Stephen Tracy said above, it would be great if no single politician turned up for this joke of a 'meeting' and thus refused to receive their juntaesque orders.

 

If, after all this daily display of contempt for the Thai people by the junta, some individuals still believe that the junta are sincerely organising a 'free and fair election' - well, then I've got a lovely new bridge I would like to sell those persons - on the moon!

How can you even have a cheap simulacra of 'Democracy'-or any other political/social/cultural or intellectual  process for that matter-when even Aristotle would have to be called in for a good wigging?

This is the Wissanu version of the children's teasing game.......I know something you don't know.... nany, nany, nah.

What have they to be afraid of if political parties do know the topics for discussion? If indeed there are any topics. 

But what better to be expected from a bunch of grown children with overblown egos dressed in military uniforms.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is chairman of the NCPO and initiated the talks. No further explanation of this eccentric behaviour is necessary.

Does this smack of coercion or what? All the 'other parties' MUST attend a meeting, for which the NCPO are unable to publish an agenda. This shower just get more laughable with every announcement . . . but maybe this is all part of the 'Order' in their name.

There is only one reason for any politician to attend: To slap this vile Wissanu's face as hard as they can before walking out. How much more will they take? 

We already see them lining up to contest a stacked deck election where they lose even if they win, now bullcrap like this. Don't they see how spineless they look? 

 

For Christ's sake, (wo)man up! Or was the junta chief right about you all along? Are you just in it for yourselves even at the cost of your dignity?

You're either with us or against us.

 

The only reason it would be useful to attend is to play along and avoid hurdles in the run up to the ballot, and to get first hand information on what new limitations or restrictions will be placed to further benefit those who are pro green.

I reckon you are spot on. It will be like telling the story of the Titanic without making any references to water...
