Hi folks,

I'm from the UK and have been staying in Thailand since August '06 on a multi-entry non-immi O visa. The visa expires at the beginning of July '07.

I am considering a short trip back to the UK this June for a friend's wedding, and was thinking it may be a good opportunity to apply for another mulitple non-immi O while I'm back in my own country so I can stay in Thailand for another year.

My questions are:

1) Is there any problem with getting back to back non-immi O visas? I have friends over here and thats the reason for visit I put for the last one, any reason I couldn't do the same again?

2) Is there any problem applying for a new non-immi O while my current one is still valid i.e. applying in June while the current one runs until July?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I have had 3 consecutive ones now issued at RTE London. If you see my other posts I have been enquiring about extension to it. Immigration at Suan Plu appear to have differant rules depending upon the time of day and also now need to prove income. They even suggest I should get a retirement VISA as it is easier - who for I ask?

My advice is to get another from London as I am informed nothing has changed there with respect to required documentation and it avoids the hassle of BKK. It appears that the London Thai Embassy staff would like to encourage people to go to Thailand long-term whereas here they do their utmost to get you to give up and go back, even when you have Thai family !

Regards,

Dave

You just asked in another post about 40k income for marriage. Now you revert and talk about visiting friends. If you are married to a Thai you can use that as a reason to obtain a non immigrant O visa (much more valid than friends and most Consulates will honor). You should have marriage certificate and copy of id card if asked for.

1. You could do the same at a very limited number of Consulates perhaps - but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs no longer lists it as a valid reason on there web site the last time I read it.

2. Old visa can be canceled and new one activated. Don't believe it would be a problem.

Yes, sorry to confuse. I've had a Thai girlfriend since I arrived here (5 months ago) but I'm not planning to marry her just yet, and I'm unlikely to before I return to the UK. So this is the most pressing question, the other post was more about thinking to the future but I thought I'd post anyway, while I was thinking about it. :o
