The General Department of Taxation collected more than $761 million in taxes during the first three months of the year, a slight increase of about 10 percent compared to the same period in 2017. GDT’s director general Kong Vibol announced the figures yesterday during his department’s monthly meeting, and said the positive results are the result of the digitalisation of processes at the GDT.

“We are working hard to enhance efficiency to increase tax collection,” Mr Vibol said. Aun Pornmoniroth, the Minister of Economy and Finance, also present at the meeting, congratulated the GDT for their work. “They have managed to increase the amounts collected without creating new taxes, while making it easier for people to pay their taxes,” he said.
