BANGKOK, 27th April 2018 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Armed Forces are set to increase their capacity to handle cyber threats and assist those affected by a drought crisis.

The Supreme Commander, Gen Thanchaiyan Srisuwan, chaired a recent meeting with high-ranking officers to discuss the achievements of the armed forces over the past six months.

The Supreme Commander stressed the need to increase the ability of military personnel, according to the government’s cyber safety policy, to deal with cyber threats in order to effectively keep the country safe.

In addition to national security, the Royal Thai Air Force is set to launch an artificial-rainmaking operation to provide water to people living in areas where water is scarce.

And there in a nutshell is the common sense and clear thinking of Thailand demonstrated once again

increase the ability of military personnel,

I think most conscript are well versed in facebook to read every single post in Thai and flag them as a "threat to the country", no need to increase their abilities.

They have upgraded from Windows XP to 7,now they will be able

to control all cyber threats that are thrown at them..

I can see it now. A bunch of uniformed morons slapping computer screens....

Hackers are often world class in what they do, I don't think there is even 0.001% of getting on this level.

By cyber crime they probably think if some innocent person posts on FB truth which they don't like.

I strongly suspect the Thai authorities use rain seeding chemicals which include silver iodide. Which is lethal and highly toxic. No one should hold their breath waiting for a denial. Here is an excerpt from a report on the subject.

The Office of Environment, Health and Safety, UC Berkeley, rates silver iodide as a Class C, non-soluble, inorganic, hazardous chemical that pollutes water and soil.(8) It has been found to be highly toxic to fish, livestock and humans.(6,7,8,9) Numerous medical articles demonstrate that humans absorb silver iodide through the lungs, nose, skin, and GI tract.(7,8,9) Mild toxicity can cause GI irritation, renal and pulmonary lesions, and mild argyria (blue or black discoloration of the skin). Severe toxicity can result in hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, shock, enlarged heart, severe argyria, and death by respiratory depression.(8)

That meeting must have finished so fast, even a super precise Richard Mille RM031 exclusive caliber couldn't time it.

How about a coordinated effort with the Thai government?

It won't (hopefully) always be a military-led government.

Just hope they don't use the people behind the online 90 day reporting.

More money for the
"single internet gateway" ?

A meeting 'to discuss the achievements of the armed forces over the past six months.'

Thai junta assessment: the armed forces have maintained world peace; they have fostered science, technology and intercultural understanding; they have banished all war from the planet; they have been a beacon of democracy and justice; they have made Thailand the most celebrated nation on the planet.

Everyone else's assessment of Thai military achievement: ZERO.

Except for persistently oppressing their own Thai people.

No, not yet, but they have sent several top brass to attend a lecture hosted by True Corp executives on data security.

They have found the modem off switch.

Oh really ?!!...why not first try and deal with the 22'000+ deaths on Thai roads ?

Sorry to break it to you, but they're all much of a muchness in my experience. Excellence in anything not really the Thai way. Not entirely comforting to know that the Thais would want to impress the non-Thais by putting their best people into immigration, they've certainly got all the hardware at the front window, so to speak.

To err is human, to make a problem, you need a computer, but to make a 5-star ballsup, you really need a couple of Thais.

In response to the threat an order for more Submarines have been placed.

I don't think they're worried about anything other than the (imagined) image of Thailand, ion which case, get Mr Piggy up on his hind legs, that'll do, all foreign countries love Thailand anyway, and those that don't, don't really understand Thailand or Thais. Or  someone else, so long as they have a tall hat and a gun, it'll be OK. Delusional is a wonderful thing.

Besides, the dead and maimed are probably Thaksin-lovers anyway so who cares?
