Three Chinese nationals and Cambodian woman charged with attempted trafficking of two Cambodian women

Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Saturday charged three Chinese nationals and a Cambodian woman over the attempted trafficking of two Cambodian women to China for forced marriages. Major San Vichetr, deputy chief of the municipal anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection department, identified the accused as Ji Xianxin, 37, a Chinese national and his Cambodian wife Taem Oeun, 35. Zhang Liang, 27 and Yan Fan, 28, both are Chinese nationals.

 

Maj Vichetr said the group was charged by the municipal court with unlawful removal for cross-border transfer, adding that each accused faces seven to 15 years in prison if convicted. Maj Vichetr said all four were arrested on Tuesday and have been jailed pending trial.
