Man injured in anti-tank mine explosion

Featured Replies

A 21-year-old construction worker yesterday was injured when he set off an anti-tank mine while bulldozing farmland in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district. Colonel Yim Sarann, Por Senchey district police chief, identified the victim as Heng Hy, who sustained serious injures over his entire body.

Col Sarann said that the explosion took place at about 8.40am on a plot of land in Chom Chao commune. Col Sarann said that the victim was levelling a plot of land for the future construction of a house in Prey Tea village when the mine exploded after he drove over it.

“While he was driving the bulldozer and levelling the ground, the anti-tank mine, which was buried in the ground, strongly exploded and sounded like a large bomb,” he said. “The explosion turned the bulldozer over and tossed the victim about five metres away.” “He suffered serious injuries and was knocked unconsciousness,” he added.
