Since July 2008, the NCCC has been referred to as the National Anti‐Corruption Commission (NACC) in order to comply with the broadly used term “anti‐corruption.” http://www.tilleke.com/sites/default/files/anti_corruption_updated_2009_0.pdf Ah yes. A rose, by any other name would smell as sweet, and a toid by any other name would smell as foul.

He was corrupt as corrupt could be, no doubt about that, a true child of the Thai amartya. Much easier to flit from country to country, confident in hitting the Thai headlines at every turn, and holding up hid middle finger all the while. In a way, it's quite entertaining to watch. No wonder he's always smiling, I'd be laughing like a drain. Hugely funny.. Edited May 8, 20188 yr by KiwiKiwi
May 8, 20188 yr It must be a pain in Prayut's ass that his opponent enjoys life with sister even. PM tries eveything to sue him and get him into jail. But the more he tries the more people will vote for PT. This fact probably is not getting easy into a soldier's head.

Well sure, that's true but this is Thailand where the PM can arrange a government loan to a foreign country so that country can buy products from his company. In the immortal words of Yingluck "that is democwacy". Makes me laugh to see some of the comments on here, seemingly endorsing sainthood for the former mass murderer of 2800 alleged drug dealers. No need for lengthy trials, I said they are guilty.

No need for lengthy trials, I said they are guilty. Me too, in a heartbeat. The problem is he was a child of Thailand, and a child of the Thai mafia amartya. Anyone thinking that Thaksin was not corrupt just hasn't been paying attention, but in Thailand, corruption is the norm. Doing and receiving favours is absolutely de rigeur for anyone hoping to get on in Thai politics. Thaksin was only prosecuted because he fell foul of his former friends and mentors in the Thai mafia amartya, hence the 112 statements that were plastered all over the newspapers, whereas, if there were any actual evidence, prosecution(s) would certainly have followed. The truth as I perceive it is that this country will not change until Thais get a grip, stop being subservient and worshipping money and status, and knock it down to start again. Not that it would surprise me, but are you saying that he didn't order the extrajudicial killings of 2800 alleged drug dealers? After some of the "facts" that you have presented on this forum one would suspect that you are joking when you tell me to "stick with facts".

Actually we will never know the exact scope of his responsibility, as this case has been quickly swept under the carpet. Any idea why the yellow judiciary has willingly given up this opportunity to incriminate Thaksin?
