I just finished my coursework for a bachelor's degree a month ago, should I cancel my visa when I'm already leaving the country in a week from now?

I finished all my courses a month ago, but I don't have my grades or official papers for graduation yet.

I misunderstood the rule that I had to cancel within two weeks after my last day of class, I thought it was within two weeks after the release of grades. So, technically I've "overstayed" for two weeks.

My visa is valid until August.

I'm going back home in less a week and I was wondering whether I still have to cancel or can I just leave and have the immigration at the airport cancel it there?

I've been hearing mixed opinions and it gets me a bit worried since I don't want to pay for the 500/day overstay fee, or worse, not be able to leave Thailand without canceling first.

I would appreciate the help.

Thank you.

You can just leave the country at an airport without a problem.

Your extension of stay (it is not a visa) has not been canceled. You would have to take a letter to immigration to have it done.

Oh, alright. Thanks.

But if ever I went to cancel my visa at the immigration will they charge me for overstaying?

And if I won't, will it have an effect if ever I come back and work here?

You would not be charged for an overstay unless the letter from the school stated your studies ended before the date you went to immigration.

No effect on working here later.

Thank you. This helps a lot!
