Probe against Suthep in police stations case 90 per cent complete: NACC

THE ANTI-GRAFT agency’s investigation into alleged irregularities linked to former deputy prime minister Suthep Thaugsuban in the construction of police stations all over the country is 90 per cent complete, a senior official said yesterday.
 

National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) secretary-general Warawit Sukboon said that the corruption case involved a project to build 396 new police stations throughout the country. 

 

The project was approved while Suthep, then secretary-general of the Democrat Party, was serving as deputy prime minister in the Democrat-led government.

 

The NACC also has completed about 80 to 90 per cent of its investigation into a separate corruption case against former Samut Prakan mayor Chonsawat Asavahame and others, involving Bt800 million in state subsidies to temples in the province, Warawit said yesterday.

 

In yet another case involving politicians, the NACC is investigating accusations against Karuna Chidchob, president of the Buri Ram Administrative Organisation. Karuna was accused of irregularities over Bt20 million in state subsidies to sports associations in the northeastern province, according to Warawit.

 

Karuna is the wife of Newin Chidchob, president of the Buriram United Football Club who has retained much influence in the Bhum Jai Thai Party. Newin on Monday led an event at the football team’s 32,000-seat home stadium in welcoming Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

 

Warawit said that in April, after receiving an NACC investigative subcommittee’s report regarding the case against Karuna, the agency’s board instructed that further evidence be gathered. “Just a little more time is needed to complete the task,” he added.

 

The senior official also defended the NACC action against Watana Muangsook a prominent figure of the Pheu Thai Party’, in connection with the Ua Athon housing project.

 

“We do not practise bias or preferential treatment,” he said.

 

On Wednesday, public prosecutors sued Watana through the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders, for alleged malfeasance and bribery in connection with a residential project for low-income earners. The project was built by the National Housing Authority (NHA) at the time when Watana served as minister of social development and human security overseeing the NHA.

Suthep's case 90% complete? How many years later? You mean that you want to have an insurance policy on him; it is hard to blame the Junta for that as I sure as hell wouldn't turn my back on the Lizard King.

The NACC is the Junta's discredited political hit squad, and when the fine day arrives that the Junta is swept out of power, step number one will be to fire all the "Independent" NACC commissioners. 

 

BTW, what a fine and honorable team you are building, Junta, that you need to have the NACC preparing their files to try to keep them in line...

YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS, surely he is JOKING.

The case against Suhep is 90% complete, what he really means is, Suthep is not parting with sufficient money yet, so we will apply a bit more pressure.

My advice to those being investigated is to just announce the investigation is over. Say it’s over and to just move on. 

 

That’s what general Rolex did. Why not these guys. 

Why do I get the feeling the NAAC has a large well paid management committee and 5 investigators doing all the ground work? Investigations into men like Asavahame and Suthep seem to destined to end about a week after their funerals. pathetic isn't it?

With recent investigations into education and social ministries for corruption resulting in the disappearance of funds for the poor from budgets of mere millions, what chance that Watana oversaw a corruption free 2.5 billion baht housing project intended for low income earners? 

That man can´t be guilty of any wrong doing. He doesn´t wear the colors to be accused for that.

90 percent complete to tie up loose ends so that the case will be finished forever more.

In line with the procrastination attitude, NACC announced that Watchgate case will not meet this month deadline as investigation still need more time. What does NACC do to be so busy? 

Time for Suthep to don the saffron robes again, it looks.
