actually "mid" my friend has and it didn't which is why I am asking. Are you American?

Well, it works on mine. If you want to know if it works on yours, follow Mid's advice.

If you can see it on your TV then you can record it on your VCR. However the VCR has to be able to support the signal type of the UBC box, PAL or NTSC (Thailand - PAL is standard). I'm not sure how you are hooking it up - video/audio cables from the UBC box to the VCR, or auxillary video/audio output connections from your TV or RF feed from the Cable box.

Actually I have it from a usually unreliable

source that UBC have very sophisticated

sensors on all outgoing lines and if an even

marginal surge in the outgoing signal is

detected it is presumed this indicates a

recording device at the end of the cable

and a gazillion volts is automatically

dispatched down the suspect line.

Before making any test it is advisable

to cover your recorder in sandbags

or failing that immerse it in a large

bucket of water.

Not quite, try recording a Macrovison protected DVD, you can see it on the telly, but a VCR copy is unwatchable (assuming Macrovision in not disabled on your DVD player of course). All to do wih VCRs not having a black level clamp.

Anyway, UBC doesn't seem to have any protection, records just fine on my PC capture card :o

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I receive UBC by satellite, and have no problems recording any programme on my DVD®. I often do this for programme re-scheduling - especaily on Star World to get rid of the annoying breaks every ten minutes.

I also record the odd movie now and again.

Don't know about VCR's, but isn't it time you got into the 21st century with a DVDR? :o

I got told that the if it is sat, it sends an signal to the Sat, which informs the FBI. So always cut the cable to the sat. dish first to prevent to get detected.
