'Angry aunties' spark debate on Bangkok's informal markets

BANGKOK, May 18 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - A Bangkok court this week ordered the closure of five informal markets in a housing estate, and compensation for four women who live next door, bringing an end to the "angry aunties" saga that gripped the city for months.

Thailand's Gulf Energy plans $3.7 billion investment over six years

Phi Phi’s famed Maya Bay gets 4-month rejuvenation period

Thailand’s Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) has announced that Maya Bay in Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park will not allow visitors during a much-needed four-month rejuvenation period from June 1 to September 30, 2018.

PHUKET: More than three weeks after a laundry truck in Chalong swerved, tipped onto two wheels, rolled and slammed head-on into a minivan carrying tourists, police have yet to conclude their investigation or charge anyone for the accident.
