BANGKOK, 18 May 2018 (NNT) – The Ministry of Science and Technology has launched Startup Thailand 2018 highlighting the vision for Thailand to become Asia's startup hub.

Science and Technology Minister Suvit Maesincee said after the opening ceremony of Startup Thailand 2018 that the event is being held to welcome investors from across the world under a theme of "Endless Opportunities."

The opening ceremony was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who delivered a speech on how the government is working to promote Thailand as a startup hub of Asia by amending the law and streamlining processes of government agencies to better aid startup businesses.

The deputy premier said the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board is now working on changes to the education system, labour sector, and the ecosystem for startup businesses, while the Board of Investment is working on the strategy to support startup businesses, which will be proposed to the government in three months. The Stock Exchange of Thailand is also working on ways to facilitate startup businesses registration in the stock exchange.

Startup Thailand 2018 is taking place until 20 May 2018 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Pipe dreams

Startup Hub... i wonder what they smoked

If they changed the laws to allow all foreigners to own 100% of a company and give work permits to foreigners without requiring Thai workers, there would be a small chance that this could happen
