Extension of stay possible from a non-O 90 days visas ?

Featured Replies

Good morning all,

My uni teacher, now retired, will as usual come to rest in Thailand for 3 monthes. He got his visa already, a non-O apparently (it was difficult to see on the stamp...). But this years, some friends ask him to attend a marriage ceremony which will be held a little later. (I forget to ask him if he already change his return date for the plane ticket....)

So he wonder if he could directly extend his stay at the nearest immigration or if he need to go out of the kingdom for  a couple of days, then back on visa exemption ?

If I am not wrong, it would be possible to get a 1 month extension at immigration. Could the specialist check and explain to me ? That would be great.

Thank for your advices.

There is no 30 day extension possible for a non-o or any other non immigrant visa entry.

If he was married to a Thai or had a Thai child he could apply for a 60 day extension to visit them.

He could do a border hop to get a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days. Just leave the country, turn around and come right back if he wanted to.
