Durian samples sent to Shanghai

n1.jpeg

The Alibaba Group recently partnered with various Thai government agencies to organise a showcase of Thailand's premium tropical fruit and unique cultural heritage in the Thai Festival in Shanghai, which was hosted by the Royal Thai consulate general in Shanghai this month.

Alibaba's session was led by fresh food e-commerce platform Tmall Fresh and Juhuasuan, a sales and marketing platform.

Activities included a demonstration of ways to enjoy durian, coupled with a durian tasting and interactive fruit-themed games.

There was a buffet where consumers tasted Thai durians and other tropical fruit presented by Tmall Fresh and Juhuasuan.

This idiotic idea by the Thai gov has already increased the [price of durian. Problem with doing business with china is there is nothing left, and if there is it probably will be of lowest quality and too high to want to buy.

Tmall Fresh and Juhuasuan are owned by Alibaba. Alibaba has completely vertically integrated the import, distribution and sale of Thai fruits under the MOU between Alibaba and the Thai government. Thailand's only position in the sale of fruit to the Chinese consumer is as exporter where the lowest profit margin remains with the Thai farmer. For practical purposes Thai fruits are treated like the export of raw materials.

I wish they buy every single durian in Thailand so I get rid of the bad smell in my house during the durian season.

To each his own mate. Stinky cheese I sworn not to get near.

I take the smell of an old Dana Blue or Gorgonzola cheese any day compared to a bad smelling Durian. But as you said each his own mate, my Thai girlfriend throwed away a big piece of Blue Cheese that I had in the fridge, she told me the cheese was rotten, made my day.
