Did anyone else notice the bald tires on the trailer ?   Also I question whether the truck is built to tow a trailer, never mind a very heavy trailer. The sentence is an absolute joke 6,000 B and a 6 month driving suspension after he admitted being drunk. This guy should be in jail and his truck drivers license should be permanently revoked.

"Also I question whether the truck is built to tow a trailer, never mind a very heavy trailer."

This was the type of tractor/truck unit similar to the one in this incident, a 10 wheel Hino tractor unit.

 .image.jpeg.c1a1a3265f886571e59543bcc31be261.jpeg

It is designed to attach to a 40' semi trailer like this image.jpeg.73ddc4aa6305632fa3ef45e5b26dc287.jpeg

The incompetent driver took the corner too fast for his vehicle and load. It is obvious the 40' container was properly secured as it stayed attached to the trailer unit.

The report that it was carrying 46 tonnes of soybeans is rubbish.

40 FT. STANDARD CONTAINER

Dimensions: Length Width Height
Overall 40' = 12192 mm 8' = 2438 mm 8' 6" = 2591 mm
Internal 39' 5.25"=
12022 mm
7' 5.625" =
2352 mm
7' 10.25" =
2395 mm
Door Opening   7' 8.25" =
2343 mm
7' 5.75" =
2280 mm
Weights:
Max. Gross 67200 lbs = 30480 kg
Tare 8600 lbs = 3900 kg
Max. Payload 58600 lbs = 26580 kg
Cube: 2392 cu. ft. = 67.7 m3

26 tonne is the max amount of weight allowed in a 40 foot container, also in UK/ Europe 44 tonne is the max total weight truck/ trailer/ load, so i think it is the same here.

Why would you just "think" that, this is not the UK or Europe.

After observing how high sugarcane is stacked on trailers, it could be possible that 47T. is close. Depending on the soybeans moisture content and the trailers nearly 2400 cubic feet capacity it could possibly exceed that.   In the US, high monetary fines discourage overweight payloads, prevent accidents and road damage but not here in Thailand.

I saw it on TV this morning.  No one cut off that idiot. He was trying to turn left on a very small intersection not suitable for  any  heavy commercial vehicles expecially trailers.   The shipping container simply rolled off to the right and pancaked the poor guy in the Toyota stationary in the left lane.

Absolute madness.

Never drive in Thailand.

So the intersection is responsible, never the driver !

If your idea of someone having good luck is a 40+ ton wagon crushing their car with them inside it then I'd hate to know what you think being unlucky is.

Mrs C has been telling me that there have been numerous lottery winners using the last 2 numbers of the Fortuner - especially in the illegal lottery. Maybe the "unlucky" victim is one of them - hope so.

Number 95 there's a 'news' article posted already about it. His wife only bought one ticket outside the hospital.

Reminds me of Super Dave way back:

"I'll buy you a beer later."

"My nose is bleeding."

Nasty experience all the same. Hope he pulls through. Fortuner driver that is.

Cars are designed for rollover, front and rear impact. But not Thai retard truck drivers' actions. Maybe a design rethink is needed for the Thai market.
