Can a school deduct tax and social before work permit has been issued?

 

If they have been deducting this from a salary before work permit, which I assume they shouldn't... What should the employee do?

    Please don't mix up tax with social security. You need to pay in for a few months before you receive the card that enables you to go to a hospital, without paying any money.

     

      Tax usually starts from the day the work permit was issued. How much do the deduct per month?

    Two separate payments which come out 

    You pay the SSO contribution of max. 750 THB when you're registered by the school at SSO. You pay tax when you have a tax-ID. You can only obtain a tax-ID when you have a work permit.
