Big Joke does Big Too's bidding going after Cambodian over fake news site

Crime buster Surachet "Big Joke" Hakpal of the Tourist Police is going after a Cambodian man for spreading fake news about Thai prime minister Prayut.

Prayut is known as Big Too in the Thai media.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Ratana Heng after his Ratstas.com site published a story with the headline:

"Big Too blows a gasket - tells people to fill up with water not diesel".

The story claimed that the PM had told the public in a rage that they should use plain water rather than diesel if that was too expensive.

Maj Gen Surachet - famous for his multi-faceted crime busts lately - said that Ratana had attacked the prime minister repeatedly on a number of his sites.

He comes and goes in Thailand through Aranyaprathet in Sa Kaew province and owns a printing house in Cambodia.

He is wanted for damaging Thailand by spreading fake news and faces 5 years jail and/or a fine of 100,000 baht.

Thai police are in touch with their Cambodian counterparts.

In the meantime while they search for Ratana, Surachet said that the Thai police have arrested six people for sharing the news.

The people said they were only sharing what they thought was interesting news about the recent fuel price hikes but they, too, face charges of damaging the country through spreading fake news.

He's Tourist Police m does that mean it's his job to arrest Foreigners?
Cos he seems to do a lot of it.

Satorm in a teacup.

Treat it with the indifference the news and all featured parties deserve.

Big Joke indeed...

Someone does not get the concept that Thai laws do not apply to non-citizens outside the country.

They may be able to intimidate Cambodia to extradite the poor miscreant, but it should be treated with same contempt that European nations do to the dame requests.

Somchai's body repair shop can easily take care of that.

His job is to do his master's bidding.

Yeah, right! Have to start all the BJ jokes now.

When BJ catches an illegal foreigner he sends him back home the day before he left his home country.

Yes but by Job description shouldn't he be protecting Tourists not chasing down Cambodians just for making fun of Mr P?
He looks very serious though.

It´s the double edged sword. He should be a help for tourists, at the same time his profession is namned police which stands for catching criminals as far as I now.

As I see it, he is a big help for the whole country at the same time as he is super environmentally friendly. He takes out the trash!

There certainly is someone damaging Thailand.  Don't think it's the Cambodian.

i always thought TOURIST POLICE  were (pretend ) policemen, so why cant the PROPER police do their job, they seem to like touring round Jomtien in their police car with their lights flashing trying to look important.

Just hope BJ never finds out about ThaiVisa Forum, lots

of criticism of Big Too on here.

regards Worgeordie

Funny though !!....the Tourist Police was initially created by a groupe of good people in power, to assist tourists and farangs visiting or living in the kingdom.

Yes...yes...of course, good people in, bad ones out..etc.

Guess times and society have changed ? sigh !!

The site now has free advertising thanks to the big joke.  The water in the gas take thing is easily ignored.  Little p's reputation would improve if he was not such a thin skinned coward.

Big Too's reaction to hearing that someone took the mick

Gun? Check... Foot? Check... Ready, aim, fire! Doh!
