BANGKOK, 31st May 2018 (NNT) - A former activist monk Phra Buddha Isara has declined to be released on bail after he was arrested for robbery and criminal association.

A group of monks and people visited the former monk, who is now known as Suwit Thongprasert, at Bangkok Remand Prison. Former members of the People's Democratic Reform Committee; Sathit Wongnongotey and Chumpol Julasai were also among the visitors.

Suwit’s lawyer, Theerayut Suwannakaesorn, claimed his client will only seek bail if the case goes to court.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said today he had offered a public apology over the treatment of the former monk. He also pleaded with the public to understand the work of the police.

Where else is free lodging and boarding available? Temple option is already crossed.

Is he no longer a monk, or does he slip back into uniform when out of custody? If he's in civvies, then I'm sure one of his harem would just love to 'put him up', so to speak. It would be a happy ending.

There is method in him not wanting bail, he is hoping to become a martyr.

Just a ploy to get more public support/ sympathy.

Yeah, apparently he needs some sort of support for his dodgy back.

Wait! Please show some sympathy for this poor man, Suwit Tongprasert (which means 'Good Thinking' and 'Glorious Gold' 'Wit' just like in English ). He has severe backpain and sits in a wheelchair,  and will  be admitted to a hospital for years, just like Kamnan Phoh.

A pathetic excuse compared to the long disappeared Phra Dhammachayo who used to have a multi-million-baht hyperbaric chamber. Seems the monkist excuses these days are getting very limp.
