BANGKOK — The Future Forward Party called on the military government Monday to end alleged threats against its members, particularly in the north and northeastern regions.

In a statement, the party said some members were visited by state officers who had taken photos of vehicles parked at its first meeting last week held at Thammasat University’s Rangsit campus. It said they they had been “threatened, harassed and made to feel fear.”

This is an excellent response by the party.   I strongly believe that if the Junta continues these sorts of tactics AND it is publicized, it will backfire spectacularly in their faces. No on

I strongly believe that if the Junta continues these sorts of tactics AND it is publicized, it will backfire spectacularly in their faces. No one really expects a completely "Free and Fair" election, but there is also a general anger when there is too much cheating; sending the police around to harass a new party and its membership would be crossing that proverbial line.

If FFP is smart, they will use social media, with photos, every time it occurs. And, every time it occurs, their popularity will rise.

This article could be fabricated to deregister the F F Party one never knows ! I mean would the junta go to such extremes I have my opinion

"Would the junta go to such extremes" - no way, the junta firmly believe is a fair and level playing field - so long as the field doesn't slope

towards their end and of course they only play when the wind is blowing to their advantage - all above board of course.

"An aide to police spokesman Gen. Veerachai Songmetta said Tuesday that the move was a matter of national security without elaborating further."

Playing the ol' "national security" card again.

Isn't this the same excuse they use to bang up old ladies who "like" FB posts?

Just how much lower can this junta go. Everyday we see the junta sinking to new depth of insecurity and incompetency. Will abide by forum rules not use expletives.

Good question, Eric: how much longer can this junta go on?

Answer: for as long as the Thai people let them ...

Could be a dozen scenarios.

It seems to me the main concern of the NCOP is to try to ensure the shin party paid yes men mob don't return to power, and perhaps saying they are concerned about FF is just to warn the red mob to not get  to active / too mouthy.

Who knows.

You mean you don't think that the 'Thaksin'  party, what ever it will be called, will get the most votes at the election? (if it happens).

THREATENED by spastics who couldn't box chocolates. PEASANTS. ignore them..With your money people can disappear.

You think too much. Don’t think PTP nor the reds need any more warning. They have been harassed, intimidated, sent to military adjustment and some even jailed for the slightest of demeanour. They are immune to the junta bias attitude towards them. Plain and simple, junta is displaying lots of insecurity and anxiety over the FFP as they will likely to provide big challenges to the Dem and all those military crony parties. And they fear the consequence of the FFP becoming the government and go after the military especially the coup leaders. Just being chicken as they always have been but hide behind guns and draconian intimidation.

The public should be allowed to vote in the Shin party "Yes men" if they so desire. It's called democracy, but not for the dwindling group of junta fanboys.

This mob will stop at nothing to ensure it is a one horse race.

Restriction of basic civil liberties, censuring the press, harrassment, intimidation, AA, threats, trumped up charges of sedition, computer crimes, defamation etc.

The Thainess Stakes Election (year TBA) colour commentary:

"And they're off! And it's Frog Whisperer cracking out of Gate 1 at a furious pace! Frog Whisperer holding the lead as he passes the first bend....Oh wait! Frog Whisperer has stopped dead in his tracks to compose a ballad and bask in accolades from his adoring fans. (Cue the crickets).

But wait! Now it's Yellow Suthep coming up his rear faster than a minivan driver on speed doing a runner just to get a whiff of the full-bodied manure and lucrative gov't handouts.

A deal is cut at the bend between Frog Whisperer and Yellow Suthep as Watchman slithers past by a belly at a snail's pace on his horse he borrowed from a dead friend.

The three approach the straight away as we cut back to the gates to find other contenders disqualified for reasons of "national security."

And around bend number 3 we see Watchman take a snack break and check the time as Frog Whisperer and Yellow Suthep are neck and neck. It could come down to which one can grow the longest nose for a photo finish...

With only mere yards to go Yellow Suthep feigns injury and limps toward the finish line. His "self-sacrifice" is duly praised by his sh it-sipping fans as he announces his retirement to go and heal in a temple.

And it is Frog Whisperer to the finish by the length of a gun!!!!"

One only need look toward the composer and his magnum opus "Article 44" to hear the dischord in his faux melody. My ears are bleeding. Perhaps you are tone deaf?

One needn't be a Shin supporter to be a junta detractor.
