English speaking eye doctor in Bangkok/cheap glasses

Featured Replies

I got an eye exam done at a retail shop in Bangkok yesterday. They were friendly and made an effort at being professional however the person doing the exam was obviously a retail clerk and not a doctor.

I have my latest prescription from Canada which is from February 2017 (not that long ago). It indicates astigmatism of 2.5 in my left eye. According to the exam in Bangkok yesterday my left eye astigmatism is now 2.0. My understanding is that it is possible but highly unlikely that my vision would have improved that much.

Anyway......getting an eye exam done by a professional is a good idea either way.

Please recommend an English speaking eye doctor in Bangkok.

I also appreciate recommendations on where to buy cheap glasses. All I really care is that they have UV coating (I've given up on fashion...ha ha).

Thanks in advance.

Best place for an eye exam by a genuine ophthalmologist is Rutnin Eye Hospital on Asok (www.rutnin.com)   Between B1300-2000, depending on tests needed..   Most major hospitals also maintain professionally staffed ophthalmology departments.

There are NO cheap or even inexpensive prescription glasses in Bangkok; very overpriced.

Best bet is online.  Zennioptical.com   Lots of good reviews on this forum.  They are manufactured in China and shipped directly here.  I usually get mine within 10 days of order. Prices 25% of what you will pay for comparable glasses purchased in Bangkok.

12 year customer of ZENNI...I use a six year old prescription from the US, never seen a better one here.
