The fines being given for smoking on beaches are a lot less than the fine the driver got, although the maximum is higher.

You quite clearly did not get my point but that's ok here in this country

You think that just because this idiot did something incredibly stupid that all Thai drivers are therefore the same?  Do you apply the same bizarre, irrational logic to drivers in your own, and every other, country when one individual (as in this case) drives badly or just Thailand?

This is a really sad statement and a tragic example of what cultural relativism does to a persons mind. The Thai driver did something stupid but drivers back home do stupid things all so it's basically all the same in the end. It's all so complicated it's probably impossible to compare drivers in the different countries anyways so lets just give up and say it's all basically the same.

No just to the Thai's in Thailand.

I'm ok with that.

Give the guy a break. It’s not easy working out when to go and when to stop when driving towards these intricate lighting systems. I think the lights should always be green. Would make my life so much easier.

Give the guy a break !

The Moron was driving a truck full of School Children for Gods sake.

The only break this idiot deserves is a lengthy stretch in the slammer.

As for working out the lights, he travels this route every day

Wonder if the Thai apologists of TV would like to come along and tell us how good the Thai drivers are  now ?

Bet the driver was not pissed up when he did this,

but I just cant tell, the difference with them,  same , same but same.

Suradit, you're being called!

Fact of the matter is, as much as the kids annoy the crap out of me some days, I wouldn't put them in harms way with any Thai driver !

More of an issue is how they pack the children in the back like cattle to a slaughter! I remember all the talk of not allowing people to ride in the back of pick-up trucks but they made an exception for last Songkran festival. In most first world counties you'd be arrested on the spot for endangering the lives of children.

It's hard to believe but they actually check to see if you are wearing your seatbelts at many of those police checkpoints!

Then there's the placing innocent children in front of the driver on motorbikes that we see many times a day. Is that supposed to protect the driver in case of impact similar to an airbag in a car?

I am convinced that those sweet little faces looking over the headlight of a Motorcy, are used as some kind of ' Human Shield " for the driver.

Everybody gives way so there is no accident involving a child, and the grown ups know this.

Selfish and callous beyond belief if its true.
