Video: Truck driver flies through the air to his death

Dash cam footage from a Honda Accord showed the terrifying moment when the driver of an 18 wheel truck lost control on the other side of the motorway heading towards Pattaya.

The Hino truck with Ayuthaya plates collides with the central barrier and the driver is thrown from the passenger window of the cab.

He collides with the side of the oncoming Accord smashing the window.

The unnamed driver was reported dead at the hospital, said Daily News.

An unidentified woman from the Accord said they were on their way back to Bangkok from Rayong.

Sad. Those darn brakes always override good trucker driving skills.

But I think it would have been easy to have waited for the next U-turn rather than trying to create your own.

Would a seat belt have saved his life to drive another day?

He was rocking along at a fair rate to do that much damage. Fortunately no container on board.

I was relieved to see the young lady driver of the Accord is uninjured.

yeah.  I thought of that too having just watched the video with my sister.  But it looks like the truck came all the way across the road from what over there is the high speed lane into the right side lane?  Wonder if he was trying to weave and go around traffic or whatever.  Of course no seat belt or anything like that.

Just another day, just another easily avoided loss of life.

Crazy driver driving too fast... I am invincible nothing can stop/ harm me.

When oh when are the authorities going to insist on speed restricters?

Will not stop the carnage, but will at least slow crazy truck drivers.

Would make a good promotional ad for seat belts

i dunno.......don't see where it would be possible for a truck to turn left from the shoulder to make a left turn and hit the barrier at the speed he hit. the truck should have tipped over.

more likely he was coming out of a side road, playing whatever silly game on his phone, didn't notice that the oncoming expressway failed to yield the right of way.  if there's any justice in thailand, the traffic barrier will be taken in for enhanced interrogation.

Best to keep that a secret,

we can leave Darwinism in the driving seat,  if they only do themselves.

I renewed my Thai drivers license of 2 years the other day and was surprised at the process, first up after providing all the paperwork that I provided last time, i.e. copy of passport, extension of stay, confirmation letter from immigration that I am staying where I am actually staying, yellow book, both driver licenses, (car & motorbike) and pink ID card, the person behind the counter then said doctor certificate, oh ok, so off we went to find a doctor to sign off that I was fit to drive, arrived as he was closing, oh, look I am closing 30 baht, I signed the paper, you just fill it in and give to them ok, but I have to be fair, he did ask if I had any problems and touched my pulse for about 3 seconds, probably to make sure I was still alive.

Back to the registry, go upstairs, now put foot on accelerator when it goes green press accelerator,  then press brake pedal when it goes red, then it was time for that contraption you put your nose in the middle and get the lights come on either left or right that are controlled by the person holding the control box, so I would say red, green and then amber, but then the lady said, no amber, oh ok then I said, orange, no, no orange, no amber, yellow, oh yellow, I said, as a few people started laguhing, oh ok, not going to argue you, red, green , yellow, then I did the colour blind test and went into see this video with the others there doing the same renewal of their licenses.

No one was in the room to make sure everyone was watching the video which was in Thai, naturally I do not understand Thai, nit noy, everyone was playing with their mobiles or having a chat.

At the end, I was provided with my 5 year renewed license.

Now I ponder as to why so many people on Thai roads die every year, the process is archaic and out of touch by western standards by far, the doctors certificate was another, then we have the lack of police force out there enforcing the rules, suffice to say if this poor chap was wearing a seat belt he might be still alive to day, fortunately he didn't take anyone with him.

RIP

Accord driver really luck because no car at the next lane during evasion. Else more lives could be lost. These trucks should be banned from motorways.

Guess the amulets and tattoos aren't as good as a seatbelt. :coffee1:

no seatbelt. I guess no check for alcohol and drugs.

I guess   those Thai "drivers" don't even need alcohol or drugs to achieve their outstanding driving performance.

Yup this lad would probably be alive IF he wore a seatbelt bar a few broken ribs with that sideways force IMO. Lesson for others who do the same eh.

Truck/car hitting concrete barrier at high speed, concrete barrier wins everytime...

that picture of the driver taking flight should be on every truck driving licences just like the grim pictures on packets of smokes...

Impressive, Im giving him 9/10....................yeah I know, Im beyond caring, thats what Thailand does to you.

Good the driver of the Honda was safe. Another complete and utter divy now off the roads.

As usual the government will do nothing to enforce change. I drove to Suvarnabhumi on Saturday and Sunday to pick up relatives. Even on that short stretch out of Bangkok the amount of people driving recklessly is staggering.

It's not only a speed restricter. It's also policing and monitoring the device to ensure it hasn't been tampered with to override it.

I suppose in reality there's more chance of knitting fog.

In the video the rescue worker appears to be rather forceful in his use of CPR.... As these guys are first responders in many cases, I wonder how much medical training do they have?

Whatever, but i see a poor working Thai flying through the air about to die and some self righteous perfect Ferangs stating the obvious.Shame on You.

I sure the local tv show hosts make an entertaining and funny broadcast out of it with matching sounds effects.
