snoop1130 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Video: Couple saves family from certain death as car bursts into flames Dramatic footage from an accident in the Si Khiw area of Nakorn Ratchasima showed the moments when a brave couple helped two children , a granddad and a mother escape from a car that moments later burst into flames. But the poster of the clip on Facebook had some choice words for ten people who failed to help leaving the couple to do the job by themselves. The accident involved a Toyota Vios that driver Priaw, 47, was driving carrying his daughter Niphaporn, her child Sawitree, aged about one, and a boy called Punnakan, aged 2. Priaw lost control while overtaking on the Mitraphap Highway and crossed into the opposite lane where he collided with a Honda Civic. He suffered a head injury, his daughter a broken leg and the children minor injuries. But all would have been burnt alive but for the quick action of the good Samaritans. They dragged the woman clear and got the others to safety before the fire took hold. When rescue services arrived with police all the victims were taken to Si Khiw hospital. "Udomdech Prasertchai Choke Dee" commented on their Facebook page that ten people failed to stop to help out. He used a vulgar expletive and blamed his countrymen for their lack of help. They dragged the women clear and left her lying in the middle of the road while a couple of passerbys held the children in the median. The guy filming the video and commenting about the 10 people not helping the kids, nor anyone else during the length of the video, bothered to lift a finger to comfort and assist the injured woman in the road short of getting her away from the fire <note the drag marks on the pavement>. I'm surprised someone did that much. I watched the video link from a Thai friend showing the unedited, unpixilated video prior to the first responders arriving. The guy taking the video is walking all around the woman in the road yakking is head off, and I'm thinking, "Why in God's name aren't you and others down their helping that woman instead of engaging in voyeur porn?" I'm consistently at a loss at the complete lack of human empathy displayed by the vast majority of Thai people. For a country supposedly built on Buddhist principles, it seems that most Thais completely forgot about Siddhartha's emphasis on compassion. The vast majority of Thai Buddhist I personally know are almost exclusively focused on making merit in order to receive something good - but the concept of compassion for other sentience beings is completely loss on them. Victims must not have made sufficient merit, so showing compassion for a victim doesn't even register on their radar. "Not my problem!" The usually scene at an accident is a bunch of lookie-loos milling around the victim with nobody showing any willingness to help no less console the victim. I find it somewhat horrifying the complete level of dispassion that most Thais exhibit for the victims of accidents or for that matter other people's suffering. Amazing Thailand! connda Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 (edited) Watch as the guy videoing dances around the women laying injured on the road. Nobody helps her, nobody offers verbal support or consoling. I can not fathom that level of dispassion. When I watched this yesterday I was thoroughly disgusted by what is saw. I still am. I can't wrap my head around it. Comfort the children; to hell with the injured adult. Edited June 13, 2018 by connda
Popular Post cornishcarlos Posted June 13, 2018 Popular Post Posted June 13, 2018 I'm surprised that those cars blocked by the accident aren't trying to get through.. That's why that woman should have been moved out of the road !! Moved next to her kids would have been the compassionate thing to do... 2 1

An excellent post if I may say so. It seems the "lookie-loos" are conditioned by the laws that can allow people to sue you if whilst helping them you cause further injury etc. Good Samaritans are out there as has been seen in other videos but the guy filming the video was busy yacking and filming while the rescue medics comforted the kids, the mother was left lying in the road like an injured dog . Quite disturbing actually 1

Thaks for the vid. connda , SM comes first I am afraid , if folk can send pics of what they had for lunch this is far more important . That poor lady lying in the road was very disturbing , reaching out for help but no help came. 3
ross163103 Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Unbelievable how callous, unfeeling, and shallow humans have become now days. Nobody would help the lady but had no problem with filming her to show on social media. I don't know why I'm shocked by these things as it's the "new norm" now days. 1
HHTel Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 My wife says that in Thai they were agreeing that the lady is out of danger but should not be moved until the medics see her. 1

madusa Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Oh my God, that lady left in the middle of the highway, anytime the truck comes and run her over. The risk is very high. The truck driver would be looking at the wreck on one side and he didn't notice the lady. I hope the lady is ok.
HHTel Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 All 3 lanes of traffic are stopped and backed up. Hardly likely a speeding truck is passing by. As was said, people were aware of the lady's situation and jointly decided not to move her until seen by the medics. She was out of danger. "The risk is very high." ---- Hardly with the traffic backed up on 3 lanes! People are very quick to criticise rather than praise. 1

I'm sure I heard her say " I'm ok don't worry about me, just got a broken leg, give me a few mins and I will crawl over and see how my kids are" 2
