AOT approves ฿42 billion for Suvarnabhumi Airport expansion

 

 

BANGKOK, 20 June 2018 (NNT) - The board of Airports of Thailand (AOT) has approved an investment budget of 42.1 billion baht for the expansion of Suvarnabhumi Airport. 

The sum, which is still subject to the cabinet's approval, will be used for the planned expansion of Suvarnabhumi Airport. 

The AOT expects the airport to welcome 65 million passengers this year and 68 million in 2019. 

The construction is scheduled to begin next year and should be completed in 2021.

How about spending some of that money here on the Uttaradit Airport which is extremely run down and not operational .

It's a long stretch of tarmac the army used in the past. It is not an airport. Do you own land around the area? ?

No i live 9 km away but would rather fly down to Bangkok than risk my life every time driving down and i will never use buses seen to many crashed or in a ditch . there's not much tarmac left and full of pot holes , the Govt did say a few years back they would do airports in all provinces but TIT .

Less than an hour's drive from Sukhotai (sic) Airport - which has flights to Bangkok...

Thats 30 billion for  'so ya wanna boom boom' airport and 12 billion for the politicians and army brass.

30% graft standard on all gov projects.

Uttaradit does not belong to AoT. AoT manages only 6 airports in Thailand. So the money for the other ones should have to come from their respective owners or the gov.

Third Runway or not?

Two runways have been running overcapacity since 2012 and higher arrivals are still predicted.

Fat cats will eat well.  Wonder how many small or medium concerns will be involved.
