Police arrest Pathumporn “Ae” Mongkornchaiya Dec. 14 in Ratchaburi.

PHITSANULOK — The voyeurs of a Line group where a toddler was raped on live camera will not be prosecuted, but the admin is awaiting awaiting a court sentence for various charges including human trafficking.

In December, Pathumporn “Ae” Mongkornchaiya, 27, was arrested for paying the parents of a toddler to rape their child on camera. While Pathumporn has been convicted and awaits sentencing for her crimes, the police who had vowed to locate those who watched now say they’ve given up and decided they did not break any law.

Strange, the least they could do is accuse them of having downloaded child porn on their computer. The least that is and as far as I know that is illegal in Thailand, i believe even normal porn is illegal. Not long ago they caught a French guy with child porn on his computer and it was deemed illegal.

Maybe its just too hard for them to find the people in the chat group.

They watched it on Line,no download.

More bad reporting, did the woman "Ae" rape the toddler,or did the parents

rape their child, and no mention of charges against the parents.

Surely it must be a crime here, to watch kiddy porn, never mind download

it, the Police don't seem arsed to find and prosecute anyone.too difficult,

so just say they didn't break any law !

I am sure if they find it on your computer you would be in trouble.. but then its easy for them. Now they have to contact line and get data... that means a lot of letters waiting and follow up. Also maybe some of these numbers are unregistered sims and if the user is smart would have dumped that number a long time ago.

I think its a question of too much work/complications.

They would still of had to added the person or group onto their Line accounts or accepted them as friends on their Line accounts.

In my opinion those parents and all those involved should be serving life sentences, and even the death penalty for the parents would be justified in this case. How any parents could treat their child like that, beats me?

Then the laws need to be changed. Without a demand there is no need for a supply. It's the paying voyeurs who drive child porn. Arrest them, give them stiff sentences, and that should decrease the amount of child porn online.

However, let's not be naive. There will always be this type of activity. The best that can be accomplished might be breaking up a significant number child porn rings, and rescuing the young victims. The parents deserve a life sentence of hard labor, with no chance of parole.

Also, perhaps whom they found watching might have guided their decision that no law was broken. Many subscribers to child porn are way up on the economic and power scale of society.

Not parents, they're Thais.

Not people, they're the opposite of people.

I did a digital forensics course in college.  That was a few years ago but even back then there were free forensic programs that can analyze iOS and Android devices.  The higher grade software for law enforcement (maybe necessary to deal with Line’s encryption, which BTW isn’t that good) would provably be given for free to any developing country police force sex crimes unit.

Like other posters, I can only assume the police can’t be bothered trying to track down the audience.  Tracking a Line ID to a number, number to a SIM, SIM to a cell company, the low hanging fruit who have their real IDs registered to the SIM... even without digital forensics, there have been people arrested on less evidence than that.

I`m not racist, never have been, never will be.

Thais are not exclusive for committing evil deeds, evil comes in all shapes and forms. Racism is one form of evil.

Sorry friend, you are a racist - everyone is racist. If I had time I would explain why and add to your knowledge  but I honestly don't think you would benefit. Better to let you labour on under your own misapprehensions.

Please do not reply to this post, I don't have the time or the inclination to pay attention to nonsense. There needs to be an end to this bit.

Why are they trying to minimise or contain this disgusting crime ?

Perhaps some top ranking hi-so's involved, were jerking off, hidden behind their computers ?

Where is this country going ? You can get into big trouble in giving a bad comment say on a restaurant via FB, but evade prosecution when involved (in)directly in child porn ?

As I understand it, viewing porn, especially child porn is illegal in Thailand, no matter that the police say.

The single major problem is with these muppet police, is that whenever there is a case of the legendary Thai incompetence, people will  be unsure whether it is indeed incompetence or  more corruption.

This is the situation they are in because they are both incompetent and corrupt.

Som nam na. Effort brings its own reward.

Foreigners with your type of attitudes that come to Thailand, are like the bitter pill to swallow, you certainly don`t enrich Thai/westerner relations. You use threads like this as an excuse to discredit Thais as a whole, that I consider is in extremely bad taste.

I agree, There needs to be an end to this bit.
