News journalists asked to cut short live video streaming on Facebook Live from Mae Sai cave scene

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBCT) has sought cooperation from news journalists to cut short their news reporting and  video streaming  on Facebook Live  from the Tham Luang Khun Nam Nang Non cave in Mae Sai so as to  allow rescue teams to coordinate and communicate more efficiently in the search for the missing 13-member youth football team.

 

The request for cooperation came from NBTC deputy secretary-general Korkij Danchaivijit as now the telecommunication traffic at the area is unusually high as rescue personnel  in the area are increasing  to several thousands, excluding an army of journalists from both local and foreign news media, leading to high traffic in the mobile networks.

 

Mr Korkij said the NBCT would like journalists reporting live from the scene to cut short their live reporting and video streaming on Facebook Live to allow rescuers to communicate with each other more conveniently without disruption  in searching for the missing football team which are their main operation.

Makes sense.. control the situation... yet selling the sizzle of adversity and tragedy is sugar for the news hypes.. 

Tragedies don't happen in Thailand and if they're  not on TV, they don't exist.

It might be an idea to keep all Mai Sai Cave related material on one thread.

This situation is getting more ridiculous by the minute....NO recognised disaster team set up to co-ordinate and take control of a tragic incident such as this....or maybe the authorities here think that illegal betting on the world cup is more important.....

I would like to say to all those being critical of the way things are being handled at Mai sai. 

The rescuers and army and volunteers are doing their best in a very dangerous situation .they are risking their lives, every second that they are in those caves. The rain is pouring down and some caverns are filled to the ceiling with mud. Any one of these caves can fill at any time. So cut out the nasty posts. What they need and the families need is support and encouragement from every human on earth that is watching this tragedy unfold. 

Keep going guys.

Never give up. 

Never give in. 

Never surrender. 

Just claim the TV Facebook  telecommunication traffic  reporting is interfering with air traffic or the BTS.

The story has global attention so there's a lot of media on the scene and they are not their to support the search but only report on its events so it's not helping matters and the sole aim of anyone near that cave should be retrieving the trapped people. 

A very reasonable request abd no doubt, responsible members of the Authentic News Media will comply.

As for the “knockers” and ill-informed Nay Sayers, if the News Media failed to report on the incident, YOU would be the first to Belly Ache about it.

only need for one or two "news" hacks there - they can share the data from a remote central location.

This is about a difficult major rescue operation - not a TV or radio ratings exercise - the authorities should tell them to bugger-off  as they are only causing congestion on the ground and the communication net-work.
