How many signs are needed to say stay out when raining?

I suspect he may well turn out to be the hero who kept a level head and made sure the boys kept theirs too. When they were stuck, he took them to higher ground and they are all alive. On their own, th

about now he may be looking further into the cave for another way out

the need to put that coach in handcuffs as soon as he comes out
I hope not but there is no reason that his behavior shouldn't be reviewed either. Reports are he has been self sacrificial during their plight. The parents don't appear to be vindictive about this either. I don't think any adult is going to lead a group of children into any cave in Thailand in the rainy season for a very very long time.

Not as far as anyone knows.

But no info has leaked out re the identifies of the 4 taken out today.

The first 4, if the names cited in Australian media are correct, did not include the coach.

Actually there was news that showed a 13 yr old boy and his name claiming he was first. Saw it here or on CNN

police trying to get some of the admiration the rescue workers are, they are the ones that like to be front and centre and are upset they are missing out. From all reports the coach has taken them there before so it was nothing different and with no warnings prior to them doing so, the fact he has held them all together and made sure they survived shows he did the right things once they were trapped, cant blame him for not having the ability to see what was going to happen after they went in there. While it may be looked back at with a bit of a query the fact they had done the same thing previously makes it hard to push any charges especially as most thais are extremely superstitious which is why they went in there in the first place

And so you are saying that if you do something wrong enough times then eventually it is ok to do it. If I rob a bank 12 times then is it legal on the thirteenth time??

Again this was the first and obviously last time they went in the rainy season.

The  sign at entrance says July not enter ( Warning ) , they went in June 23rd...why crucify the coach . Maybe coach was a  little  stupid for taking in there in the first place, ..Their were NO intent of harm….But He saved them...( Meditation) was a monk for 10 years..Just think what if he had not been there? ? He is presently the one in  the worse condition, gave all food and water to the boys. He saved those boys lives, , further more officials should have Gated the entrance  knowing the risk long ago…They be the ones should be held accountable...

CNN fake News but right this time...Frame it

Not to crucify him but clearly he showed very poor judgment bringing young boys in there during rainy season. He realizes that now better than anyone evidenced by an apology letter he wrote to the parents. He's not a devil or a saint in this situation.

There was also a good man who gave up his time to help get him out that paid the ultimate price. Common sense is screaming out just because the sign says July that going in a week early is still insane. The monsoon gods didn't look at the sign of course.

Coach will be fine as long as the other 4 get out alive.

Agree, the argument could equally be levelled at the forestry department for posting inaccurate warnings. If a road becomes deadly at 73mph, the speed limit warnings would be set at around 50, not at 70. In normal circumstances flooding becomes increasingly risky as the season progresses (perhaps this is untrue in mountain caves) but one would assume a margin of error would be factored in. Common sense or not, if an official sign says it's unsafe from July, the implication is that it's still safe in June and that they would have taken this into account in posting the sign. It's easy to say he made an error of judgement in hindsight, but the only ones who really have a right to make that call are the kids' parents. If the authorities try and take action against him they'll score a huge own goal, and I doubt they'd have a legal leg to stand on.

Somebody will soon correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that in Thai law there needs to be a complainant to make an accusation before any prosecution can be commenced.

So, if the boys' parents do not make an accusation, as it seems they won't, the Assistant Coach will only be liable for offences against the State (where the State representatives make an accusation that a crime has been committed (murder, manslaughter, assault, kidnap, etc.).

I do not think that anyone posting on Thaivisa has first-hand knowledge of the full circumstances of these 13 people entering the caves.

So, I think we should all wait until everyone is brought out alive and they can all give their first-hand accounts, before we (onlookers) pass judgement.

... it will play out in the media and into the pockets of those who do not deserve it.

Could have been that the kids said they were going to the cave and the coach went along with them to keep an eye on them ?

Judgement has already been passed by the Thai people, the only ones that matter. The vast majority of Thais have nothing but praise, gratitude and are kindly disposed towards this young coach.  My wife tells me a "famous and wealthy" Thai person has very publicly made an offer to adopt this orphaned coach and give him whatever he needs over the course of his life. Farangs once again underestimating  the huge collective heart of Thai people. There's a reason that "jai" figures so prominantly as a descriptor in Thai language.

Any number of scenarios are possible. IMHO, We should all wait until the facts are known.

Police said Tuesday they will look into whether a 25-year-old coach of a youth football team could face legal action for leading them into a cave complex where they were stranded 10 days.

unbelievable thainess...hasnt the dude suffered enough with his charges, it's not like he sent them in and waited outside...I hope the people on social media speak out against this nonsense.

Coach who takes team to Siam Paragon to look at iphones: stand up guy.

Coach who goes out of his way to find an actual cool and meaningful experience for kids to experience in Thailand: criminal, throw the guy in jail.

..what they say and what they do...well be Thai then...

Wish everyone would lay of the coach . He's done nothing wrong as clearly it wasn't a no go as far as the signs go. Also those blaming him clearly don't know Thailand or Thai youngsters very well ! They are not taught to think for themselves and neither have the adults . The coach did nothing wrong . In the west sure in a now over monitored lifestyle our kids live in and the different mindset our kids have and for sure a more advanced education I'm sure western kids and adults probably wouldn't have entered . But Thailand isn't the west , these kids play with snakes and are comfortable with all sorts that western kids would freak out over . Nooo just resoect the coach for keeping it all together and giving up his time to teach these kids

"Coach who goes out of his way to find an actual cool and meaningful experience for kids to experience in Thailand: criminal, throw the guy in jail."

Why so many posters making definitive statements regarding the coach.

"Coach who goes out of his way to find an actual cool and meaningful experience for kids to experience......" Is this fact, or just a totally invented comment?

The fact is that these kids had all been to these caves several times before.

Nobody knows the exact circumstances of the time leading up to the team going to the cave or entering it.

Did the whole team leave the previous activity in one consolidated group?

Was the coach with them when they left that activity or did they just leave, did they leave in several smaller groups.

This is a group of 12 young tenagers, all full of life and energy.

Did they wait for the coach or like many kids this age just do their own thing without thinking about a structured / 'correct' way to proceed?

Did the team somehow get split into 2 or 3 groups with a few minutes gap between their arrival at the cave?

Did they just enter as they arrived?

Did the coach arrive a bit later and go in to try to find them?

Nobody knows and very unfair to just blame the coach.

Fake journalism :

Reporter to Police : Is the coach facing charges

Police : Cannot say yes, cannot say no .

"We will look into it "

Reporter reports : Coach facing charges

Completely untrue reporting

Plus there was has been a detailed posting with individual comments from most / all of the parents who all specifically said they did not blame the coach.

I'm not saying blame him either, but you're splitting hairs.

Of course he led the trip. He's the adult.

He wrote an apology letter already to the parents. If he wasn't their leader for the trip, why apologize?

It's already been strongly reported that there had been numerous cave trips before, but NEVER in the RAINY season.

I think we both can agree that once the rain started and it was clear the Boars were in trouble it was a damn good thing he was there and not just 12 kids to keep it together for nine days in the dark.
