Road traffic fines: New connections mean drivers must pay up!

The head of the police committee looking into improvements on the Thai roads has said that a new computerized system will mean that more fines will be collected from drivers.

 

The system links up the Royal Thai Police and Department of Land Transport.

 

This will eventually mean that no one will be able to renew tax unless overdue fines are paid.

 

In the past the system has been slapdash with many slipping though the net.

 

IT specialists at the DLT told the RTP on Tuesday that work has been successful said Pol Gen Ekkarak Limsangkat.

 

The government ordered the improvements last year.

 

But despite the upbeat words from Pol Gen Ekkarak some work still needs to be done to ensure there are no loopholes in the new systems, reported Daily News.

speeding is by far the dumbest thing to focus on, total lack of attention is what matters. slowing them down to 90 kph it will still be freakin disaster when they pile into the back of a   stationary car at traffic  lights.

Really 90 or 120 aint gonna make any difference.

 better if they had cameras concentrating solely on tailgating, lane  hopping, lane  hogging, inattention, mobile phone use, no signals, being a retard, brake failure, brain failure, total failure...............but wait HOLY siht he/she/it was doing 92 in a  90!!!

Why bother changing or stealing plates when you can just drive or ride around with none at all?

If their excessively over the limit just take the car to the crusher. The message will get through a lot quicker that way and no need to chase people to pay fines.

lately out here near kumpawampi all the police are after is unpaid rego tax, no rego leave the  unregistered  truck or car and it is towed away, and they do have a good inspection !

Coming up Pattaya klang from beach road got stopped at second road had to blow into some pipe like object looking for drunk drivers  early am Monday no check for licence or passport   Just blow.  On motorbike

That's a valid point.

When the police check the owner's details, as you say, it will show up as belonging to a finance company.

I'd guess that the loan agreement would stipulate that the 'purchaser' is liable to pay any such fines. If they don't then they'll no doubt lose the car as well as being blacklisted from future loans.

 

A couple of years ago I was caught speeding on camera on Highway 12 (near Lomsak IIRC). The finance company forwarded the fine PDQ.

My wife has to pay the loan company in advance for the annual car tax payment, which they pay on her behalf, then mail her the windscreen sticker.
