Tiny black flies

Featured Replies

Can someone please tell me what these horrible little black flies are, the ones that want to continually get up my nose, I now have an infection/inflammation in both nostrils, probably had for about 3 days now, firstly in the left hand nostril and now it seems to be migrating to the RH nostril, extremely painful and swollen internally, other than wearing a mask is there anyway I stop these buggers trying to get up my nose and causing this grief and what the chuff are they ??

Thanks for any help you can give.

Ma-lang-Wee in Thai, they are a pain in the butt, seems to be due to the weather, normal with any heavy rain they will go again.

I have in the past resorted to fly spray,,or the wife has, but they soon come back again, wait for some rain.

Thanks lemonjelly, I have just finished going through that info, the things I'm talking about are smaller than seen in your reply, they occur mainly in the afternoon and are so small that you would be lucky to get one with an electric tennis racquet

If you can visualise a flying full stop, or period if an American ??

But thanks for your response, much appreciated sir.

The electric tennis racquets, do not work have tried.

if you look at the photo in the link of the flies on the person’s skin, you can see they’re really very small, it’s a highly magnified photo. Feeding off mucus and infected tissue is typical of their behavior. The only other option I found was a “black fly”, but they inhabit areas near running streams and bite/feed off blood..... or maybe they’re just fruit flies

They could be fruit flies, but we have no fruit in the house or outside for that matter, Thanks lemonjelly

I typed the Thai name, Malang Wee, in Thai, in to Thai Google, and it gave me, Drosophila Melanogaster, have a look this .

But lemonjelly's link looks like the same thing, and a lot of the research was done in Thailand.

Hello,
It must be "psychodidae alternata or clogmia albipunctatus"; invasive, unpleasant flies. Or "drain flies".
Must clean all pipes, sink, toilet, sink, shower,
with boiling white vinegar. Repeat the operation one or more times.
Sauté with cider vigraigre in a bowl covered with a transparent film with small holes.
