webfact Posted July 13, 2018 Share Posted July 13, 2018 Myanmar worker crushed to death by service lift at Bangkok company Picture: Thai Rath A 30 year old worker from Myanmar was crushed to death in an accident in a service lift in Soi Charoen Krung 109 yesterday. Wat Phrayakrai police, medics and Ruam Katanyu rescue personnel rushed to the Chelsea Care Co. Ltd where they found Kyaw Sue Khalane dead on the fourth floor of the five story building. Thai Rath said that the lift shaft was only protected by a hand operated sliding door. The victim leaned and put his head into the shaft just at the moment that the lift was coming from above. He got trapped and died of suffocation, they said. The police are set to call all those involved in for an investigation as to what exactly happened. And when was this lift last inspected and why is it allowed to operate with such inherent dangers? And who (what gov't agency) is responsible for suck checking? Are they doing their job?
