It was all smiles at Pattaya police station last night as Chonburi provincial chief Maj Gen Nanthachart Suphamongkhol dropped in to celebrate the latest arrests and evidence gathering in Pattaya.

The Maj Gen along with the Pattaya station chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch said that 38 people were arrested in 41 gun violation cases and 851 suspects had been arrested in 835 drug cases.

This was just in the first 20 days of July.

A lot of evidence was on show including handguns, rifles, nearly half a million Ya Ba pills, 7.4 kilos of heroin and more than 7 kilos of ice methamphetamine. There was also 5 kilos of krathom leaves.

One of the arrests was of a pair of snatch thieves who robbed Ukrainian tourists of Thai and US money in Jomtien. The pair were Phayak Chompuwiset, 19, and Phumichon Saisa-art, 17.

The thankful tourists presented floral tributes to the cops.

Another notable case was that of Erawan Kheuansan, 28, who was arrested with 0.61 grams of ice.

He was allowed to telephone his girlfriend Kritsana Thawornphrom, 23, who arrived with 20,000 baht in cash and attempted to bribe the cops for her partner's release.

The money was taken into evidence and she was also arrested for trying to bribe the officials.

Isn't this sad regarding the perception of the Thai police, when the headline finishes with an exclamation mark.

That looks like good police work to me.

That is a nice gesture to give the old bill some flowers .. and no pointing fingers for a change ..

That's the downturn for the BIB's if the CCTV cameras at the police station are actually functioning.

Into who's desk?

Seeing all those confiscated weapons does not give one a warm feeling when traversing the streets of Pattaya (which I don't). I have a difficult time envisioning someone strutting down Walking Street with one of those rifles tucked down his pant leg.

Kristina! You silly girl!

Never initiate bribery exchanges.  Wait until asked.

Always use a brown envelope.

Get a new boyfriend when you get out.

Pity The USA police dont have the right to confiscate guns in the same way!

I hope it wasn't an involuntary refusal

Putting all these drugs,  guns, money,  etc. on for show.  You would need a team of about 6 but a well-planned a heist would not be hard to take it all back.  However, Thais don't have the intelligence or something called logic to actually plan something like that.

Its a very big?from me for a change getting this lethal hardware off the streets.
