Does my 3rd visa run need to be by air?

Recommended Posts

I have a non-o visa and have to do 3 border runs i believe, my 1st is tomorrow to Poipet.

My 2nd i assume will be similar but do i need to leave/arrive by air for my 3rd as I understand only 2 per calender year are allowed. Is this correct?

Also I have an Evisa paid for already are there further costs to be paid at the boreder? Do i need to get some $ dollars?

Thanks

You have to leave and re-enter the country every 90 days if you have a multiple entry non-o visa.

Your visa is valid for a year which means you can do more than 3 entries. You can do one just before it expires which can allow almost 15 months of total stay.

Do not use the Poi Pet border crossing or you might not be allowed to enter the country. See this topic: https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/1050195-denied-entry-at-poipet/

Where are staying at?

The 2 entry at land border crossings per calendar year is only for visa exempt entries. There is no limit if you have a visa.

You may have to pay an extra 300 baht to Cambodian immigration when you leave there for not staying overnight. No need for dollars they will accept baht.

Bloody hell that would be a disaster as my car would be on the thai side. Thought poipet was the easy option as it seems most border run mini buses head there.I have an evisa which can only be used there.

Really worried now ?

You can go to the Ban Laem which is not much further from Bangkok than Poi Pet but they do not accept evisas.

If want to use your evisa you could go to the crossing in Trat at the Hat Lek crossing.

The Ban Phu Nam Ron crossing in Kanchanaburi to Myanmar is a closer than Poi Pet. No need for a visa to enter Myanmar. They charge 950 baht for transport across no mans land and back that includes 500 baht for a border pass.

Your e visa would be good at Trat. I don't recall them being issued for only one entry point.

Edit: Did some more checking and if it is locked to Poi Pet you can change your travel plans. See: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/check_change

Palin is often called the Ban Pakard crossing. Map: https://goo.gl/maps/bKoMY8EgsUn

doesnt say so on the visa.

I think Trat seems to be my best option, if they dont accept my evisa i'll just start again.

Thanks joe always top info and help. much appreciated.?

Tanoshi asked if your non O multi was issued because you are married to a Thai lady.

If you are you can just before your 90 day out/in is due go to your local Imm' office and get a 60 day extension on your 90 days for 1900 baht.

It really means you can extend any of the 90 days entries.

Close to the use by enter by date you do an out/in, get 90 more days ( makes 15 months ) and then extend that by 60 at local Imm' for 60 days so the one year multi O can last 17 months minus a few days.

Edit.

Stay away from Poipet.

I use baanpakard.  I use the visa company on soi buakhao near sweethearts bar. Never had a problem except for the one time I tried swinging on my own.  Officer on Cambodia side wanted an extra 100 baht.  no big deal. But I recommend an agent.  Much safer that way. I'll never try swinging again.

Thanks for all your advice, didnt realise you can get 60 day extensions too, do they not get funny about it?

Well, I drove to the trat border, blooming miles away, very long day and slightly nervewracking. Ban Pakard is much better but wanted to see somewhere else, similar mess over the border and the roads leading upto the thai side are orange dust and pretty dangerous.

I got really hassled by the `agents` had to wrestle my passport back of one chap, he was constantly annoying me, i just kept telling him to leave me alone

I got `fined` 300 baht for my in/out , would not have had to pay if i had stayed overnight.

There is a really nice large and modern cafe over the border owned by a lovely old Thai couple at Trat, great food, drinks and service. Nice 5 star beachfront hotel housing the casino with a lovely pool and i used their wifi..

I wont go back there again unless i wish to holiday in the south of Cambodia

thanks again
