Thailand And Its Leader?

I have supported the Prime Minister of Thailand despite his megelamania, corruption, avarice and lies etc.. as he has still been good for thailand in many ways, partuclarly for the economy.

But I fear even he is going too far with this.

I am married to a lovely thai lady and we have a lovely child. We have, or should I say I have been keen to bring up our family in Thailand rather than the UK as I consider that our children (we expect to have more) were more likely to have a better life in Thailand especially regarding happiness and especially for a better 'family' way of life. I have thought that, providing one is comfortable enough to afford decent international schools and good private medecine, then Thailand had so many advantages over the UK.

We have been seriously reviewing this recently.

It may sound strange but this recent crazy proposed purchase of a stake in Liverpool really makes me much more concerned about where Thailand is going.

Perhaps it is the straw that breaks the camels back.

This leader has become an absolute disgrace. What a diabolical example. His megalamania, corruption and stupidity is becoming such a terrible example for the people. We all know the old saying that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely- but it is so true.

I think he has probably become clinically insane.

If he buys the stake with all of his own money and/or that of his cronies then that would be ok but even if he did that he would no doubt manipulate politics, or things to do with money to line his or his cronies pockets etc..

It seems that every decision this man does is connected to self interest in one way or another.

I HOPE HE WILL READ THIS AND MAYBE ASK HIMSELF ' AM I CAPABLE OF DOING SOME THINGS FOR MY COUNTRY AND MY FELLOW PEOPLE WITHOUT THERE HAVING TO BE SOMETHING IN IT FOR ME??'

The probable answer is no.

The situation is becoming very sad indeed.

I think the Thais care about that all much less than you do....

They have other problems there.

You cannot compare Thailand with Europe or with United States, by the way...

Just wait and smile, but I am not sure, if the next government is so much better...

No, I do not think that he has gone too far. There is much more in for him. His own country people might not like him but they do admire his abilities in business.

Some 30 years ago there was a former prime minister in Japan, Tanaka-san, who even was in jail for a short period on corruption charges. The people liked him for having made so much money, even coming from a poor carpenter-family. Nobody really cared that such money came from trheir taxes.

The 30-Baht-hospital-story might not work and ruin the hospitals, the man on the street who only have to pay B 30 likes it, although the service sucks. Those mayors who did receive 1 milllion Baht for trheir village like him for having got the money and switched their allegiance to TRT as fast as they will switch to another party, once T's star has fallen.

The Liverpool-deal is thought of as crazy but typical of him. 'We can afford it'. Wait and see how many people are participating in the lottery hoping to win 500 million or 1 billion.

Perhaps I agree, he is not really doing much for his country, but than who ever did?

Looking in from the outside, perhaps you are right, from the inside? I would give Th. my money without receipt as investment and trust himj to get a return.

Oh, I would not give him 1 miilion for his Elite - card. Some people I talked to about think that is great, he gets the foreigners to pay such money. Let them pay.
