Legalised gambling even in the west results in large numbers of addicts who ruin themselves and their families. To do it here would simply result in most of the country bankrupting themselves. Even with gambling being illegal here, hardly a day goes by without hearing of some Thai or another who has got themselves into massive debt through gambling. Thais have little self-control.

They're gambling anyways, legal or not. But you could set it up like Singapore and make it restrictive to locals, give Macau a run for its money. balo
They could legalize it , just like the Thai lottery . In Europe many countries has a license from the government , and the profit from it goes back to finance education and sport activities. But in Thailand it will probably go into someones private pockets instead. Edited July 28, 2018 by balo

I'm sure many of us know at least two elderly who lack a little education, except when it comes to take advantage of money gained from legal gambling. The older one may even admit: "well, it was about time."

I agree,Any place you find Chinese you will find gambling..The elements here that strongly oppose legalizing gambling are the big wheels in the government and their cronies that would not profit like they do now. There are actual full run casinos in down town Bangkok in areas that the cops fear to go. Education institutions are just a brainwashing organisation to support marxism. 99% of teatchers are socialists or communists. 1 1

While this would seem the logical choice, remember where you are. My Thai gf explained it to me like this: A Thai will go to the temple where the monk will give them a prediction of good luck that day. Being a superstitious culture, they will go out and literally bet the farm - and the odds, being what they are, most of them will lose.

And so what, what you do with your own money it’s your choice, it’s not the government job to tell me what I can and can’t. You certainly are one of those that simply want control on everything, let me ask you a question, do you care about how other people live their life ? as long as it’s not affecting you of course. In Cambodia gambling is legal, but I don’t think their is much problems there or in the Philippines. live your own life and other live theirs and stop put your nose into others business.

Yes, I do care. That's why I think that these extremely stupid people should be prevented from putting their families at risk, which they certainly would do given half a chance. What they do to themselves is of much less concern to me. As for "having control", I'm not in the slightest bit interested in that.
