"State of the Art" minivan station in Bangkok opens for business today

Officials of Thailand's Transport Company have hailed the new minivan depot in Chatuchak as state of the art promising a modern and customer friendly experience.

They hope that the bad press suffered by the minivans will be a thing of the past.

From midnight last night all minivan operations were moved from Mor Chit 2 bus station over the road to the new "Minibus Station (Chatuchak)".

The new depot is under the Srichai expressway.

It will be operational from 3am to 10 pm each day.

Sanook quoted deputy chief of operations at The Transport Company (Bor Khor Sor) Natthawut Onnorm in upbeat comments about the new operation.

Thaivisa notes that officials in Thailand have been trying hard to improve the operations of minivans. They have been shifted out of several city locations to new premises and vehicles are being better regulated with devices such as GPS.

Many were concerned about minivans following reports of bad driving and several serious accidents involving the vehicles.

The opening of the new depot will be welcome news especially after bad press in places like Victory Monument where a swoop netted dozens of illegal weapons in the vans and many of the vehicles were found to be being operated illegally.

Some are still recovering from previous accidents or still running (fleeing the scene) but all in all the status quo will be maintained. Don't worry!

State of the Art !!! They've put some parking bays under the toll way, hardly cutting edge customer experience...

That wins understatement of the decade.... "several serious accidents", try multiple accidents every week...

More ostrich here than in Africa ?

How about vehicles being better regulated with devices such as "police doing their f===i=g jobs"...

Should be near MRT Chatuchak Park or BTS Morchit

Maybe I walked past it and didn't realize it the other day.

I think it was more, "Look at the state of the car park."

If it is not right near a BTS or MRT station, someone made a severely bad calculation in the location. Does anyone know how close it is?

Chatuchak is a big area. Has there been any specific address on where this is? I wish government departments and the like would use Google Maps or similar to make it clear to people where these things are actually located.

I'm guessing the development is not complete because no one has yet installed the orange witch's hats or temporary (permanent) concrete barriers to disrupt the flow of traffic intended by the designers.

The country's most unsafe public transport vehicle, driven by the country's most dangerous drivers. Many are gas fuelled, so become a fireball on impact. No thanks.

it's around 2 kilometres from Kamphaeng Phet MRT station. It's closer to the Phahon Yothin station but there's no road connecting them.

Hell of a walk dragging suitcases.

Hmm, looks like the logistics office in the Customer Prevention Department have succeeded again then.

Probably get a promotion for that.

So is it on the north west side of Wachirabenchatat Park? next to Sirat expressway?

On the Purple Line and the new Pink line intersect at Purple line Bang Son station near Siam Gypsy Junction. There is a separate station on the Pink line that is not actually connected to the Purple line station and there seems to be no walkway between the two. Both stations are completed with the Pink line station mothballed for now.

The distance between the two stations would be far enough away to get a sweat up if wearing office clothes or get soaked to the bone on a rainy day. I really can't fathom the logic.

No way  I would  ever take a mini van again !

Would be interesting to find out which of the braindead officials who approved the plan and the location, recently registered a company to run a shuttle bus from and to BTS stations to fork in on overpriced fares.

Hahahahaha... near to Morchit 2 bus station...  a major hike from Morchit 1 which is adjacent to Morchit BTS Station!!!

Thai logic - arrange a NEW Transport Hub far away from public transport - to make it easy accessible for Customers...

When (if) Morchit 2 moves back to being next to BTS Mo Chit (on top of the BTS depot) it will be about as far from any other form of public transport as it's possible to get in greater Bangkok.

you know, can always rectify this, no  problem

all the vehicles can just go from the remote state of the art depot to Victory Monument then stop for a while and pick up passengers

Smile and wave, it's as good as it gets.

I would guess “state of the art” would be driverless, and I would add many, not several accidents ?

Starts at 3am after they have searched the nearby bars to find the drivers. ???
