THAILAND, 3rd August 2018, (NNT) - The local weather bureau anticipates that all regions of Thailand over the next 24 hours will experience less precipitation, with the likely exception of the North and Northeast.

The Meteorological Department forecasts that, from August 5th-8th, heavy rain will still hit some part of the Kingdom, with medium-level gusts over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Both seas will experience waves of 2-4 meters. The agency warned residents of the south to beware of flash floods, run-offs, overflows and mudslides. Fishermen should also exercise caution. Small ships should remain in port.

Meanwhile, the Office of National Water Resources (ONWR) has reported that the nation’s large and medium size reservoirs, such as Nam Un, Kaeng Krachan, Srinakarin, and Vajiralongkorn dams are approaching their full capacity. It urges residents near these dams to keep up to date on the water release schedule with the supervisors of the dams.

The office also indicated that three major overflows are occuring in the Chi River, Kwae Noi River and Mul River in Roi Et, Kanjanaburi and Yasothorn provinces respectively. Loei, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan and Ubon Ratchathani provinces have also reported instances of water overflows along the course of the Mekong River.
