Push button timer switch

Featured Replies

Good morning all,

We rent out our villas and guests sometimes leave the a/c running when they go out - so is there any reason we couldn't install one of these timer switches to use with the a/c unit?

Push Button Timer Light Switch, 10 s → 20 min, Surface Mount, 2 Way, 1 Gang 240 V ac 10 A

Many thanks

I don't know where sold but the key-in-the-holder to activate the electric is ubiquitous in Thailand lodging.  Shouldn't be difficult to track down for that.

But, make sure you can't get the key off the keyholder. There are some unscrupulous Aussies around.

Actually, seems like a good idea, no easy way of fixing it to be on all the time.

They might not like the start surge of your average aircon so may have their life reduced, if they're cheap just buy spares, if not use a contactor (big relay) to control the A/C.

You may want to arrange a (not accessible to the guest) timer so the A/C is on all night and only on the button during the day.

We have also two guesthouses, and very often our guests forget to switch of the lights. I have placed all lights, except the bedlamps after timer relays.

something like this: Main Product

Bathroom, a half hour, living room two hours and outside lights six hours (and after a shimmering switch). Sometimes customers tell me: strange, I switched on the light, but it did not work, then I switched it off, and it started to work..... (In fact they switched it off, and then they switched it on, so resetting the timer.....) I guess the investment in the timers is much more then savings on electricity, but OK, the lights are off.... With an AC you will save money!

Arjen.

I guess all hell breaks loose when someone asks for another toilet roll.

Anyways back on earth ..

thanks for your replies guys, but it needs to an ''on demand'' type of switch, because they will often open all doors and windows, turn on the a/c in the living area and jump in the pool and forget about the a/c

I think Key1 solves a problem, and maybe increasing the room rate helps with the other problem.

Or the some clever motorcyclists can't hang his tank bag over the device. :whistling:

When i lived in Sabah on a townsite with diesel power they used to cycle the power on/off after lunch when the guys had gone back to work to Kill the AC left on. The Mechanical guys would ask the Instrument /Electrical guys how come their AC switched back on when the power came back.:whistling: Some had put jumpers in the control circuit others simply jammed the start button with a toothpick.

My home AC which is controlled by remote automatically comes back on after a power outage but. ...

Remember the old pop machines?

You could unplug them, wait for people to put money in, wait until they got mad and left, them plug it back in and get a soda...

No, if I was Australian I’d have be stealing beer...

Mr. Lob,

Here's a thought? Buy yourself a remote? More than one if you have different makes of AC. Then if/when you find an offender you can point the remote at/through  the window and turn them off?
