extending Volunteer visa one month or a 3rd visa run available ?

Featured Replies

I apologize if this has been covered, but any opinions or experiences are welcome. Here is the story

We need to stay an extra 30 days from volunteer visa expiration date (one week from now).

Questions:

1. I know you can get an extension for a tourist visa of 30 days, can you do the same on a volunteer visa and get an extra 30 days?

2. We have already done two visa runs to Mae Sai, has anyone tried doing a 3rd. If we booked our flights home to America, would that persuade them to give us an extra 30 days even though we have 2 land border stamps already. Side note as well we have a 5 month old baby, do you think immigration would give us grace given we have an infant as well haha.

3. We know we can fly to and back to a foreign country and we can get 30 days at the airport, we are just looking for a cheaper/simpler option as it would cost us an extra $500 dollars or so and any unnecessary traveling with an infant is not fun.

1. 30 days extension is not available for non-immigrant visas, you will get one year with paperwork from your NGO and your work-permit.

2. Not possible, only two visa exempt stamps at land border per calendar year, if your previous entries was from last year you will get another one.

1. No extension (90 day or one year only) is allowed unless you have supporting documents to apply for an extension based upon volunteer work.

2. They are not flexible on the 2 entry rule.

3. That appears to be your only option.

Children under the age of 15 are not charged overstay fines. If somebody could take of your child while you are doing an out and back for an entry that would make the trip easier.
