Retrieving My Legalization Document

Featured Replies

I posted to an existing thread regarding my situation but I'm still freaking out and bewildered a bit because I followed the gov.uk procedure to get me and my Thai wife's UK marriage certificate legalized at Milton Keynes then it was send to my parents who then sent the document on to the Thai Embassy in London with the 10 pound fee..

I called the Thai Embassy in London and they confirmed they had it. I didn't ask my elderly mother to include a self addressed envelope because I didn't want to cause her anymore hassle having to forward it on to Thailand as I read on another thread here that others had asked couriers to pick it up from the Embassy to forward it on to Thailand

To cut a long story short, after organizing DHL to collect it and speaking to the embassy about emailing the DHL labels to them(first staff member said this was OK and asked when the courier was coming)  , then I got another staff member saying they wouldn't do this after I had already paid DHL

DHL turned up but wouldn't accept it because previous staff member didn't open my email after giving me the email address.... she said DHL went away and to cancel it...

She then proceeded to say she was giving it to her "friend" who was flying to Thailand last night and would sent it to me via EMS when she arrived...she read out my Thai address but then forced the conversation into a point where she could hang up

Should I just relax until Friday and hope shes really given it to her friend, it seems very off protocol?   I got a bad vibe from the first call I made yesterday and one call someone picked up the phone and then hung up straight away

I should have included the self addressed envelope for it to go back to my parents but I still think this is very rude behavior and a problem in the system.... Now me and my wife don't know whats happening and we can't track our document while we're waiting in Thailand to register our marriage. (I'm also on a single entry visa and have about 52 days left to organize an extension of stay based on marriage)

What happens if they don't post it back? do I have to get my elderly father (70 y/o) to drive to London 2.5 hour drive to retrieve it...seems ridiculous to me, is there no human element to the process?

One option would be for them to purchase a prepaid envelope to have it sent to you and mail it to the embassy.

what do you think about the bizarre story about the friend flying to Thailand and then posting it via EMS? I guess I've got to wait at least a week to see if that does materialize... as I'm not keen on calling them back for a short time because the women at the office seemed quite unwelcoming

I not sure what to think about it. It does seem odd but it may just be a solution to your problem they came up with.
