What is this insect?

Featured Replies

Anyone know what this little critter is? Maybe a centimetre or so long.

I put my hand on the curtains to pull them across this morning and felt a sharp kind of pain in the middle finger of my right hand.

Then the little bug fell from the curtain.

No sign of a puncture mark at all. Totally nothing at all visually or anything else out of the ordinary since the initial stab.

Maybe I imagined the stab but I thought it felt like touching the end of a sharp piece of wire.

Finger looks and feels totally normal after two hours.

I suppose I wasn't expecting to feel anything other than curtain material so anything else i.e grabbing a beetle would have been a shock anyway!

Sounds pretty much like it. Google:

"Asian longhorn beetle. None of these beetles can sting, and although they can pinch with their mandibles they are not strong enough to break the skin."

Probably pinched me I reckon.

Did you not notice the 2 spikes on the upper sides that can clearly be seen in your photo. That may have been what you felt.

It looks like a stink bug. They give off a very unpleasant odour when you touch them, so I always use a tissue when putting them out.
