Sixteen Thai and two Taiwanese nationals have been arrested in a raid on a condominium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, by Thai and Vietnamese police where a so-called “call centre” gang had been operating, Tourist Police Bureau deputy commissioner Pol Maj Gen Surachate Hakparn said.

Speaking at a media briefing Friday night, Pol Maj Gen Surachate said the raid was jointly conducted by Thai and Vietnamese anti-technology crime police after it was learned that a call centre gang had operated from a condominium at the Central Park in Ho Chi Minh City.

In the raid, the authorities arrested 16 Thai nationals who were hired to make telephone calls from the centre to their targets in Thailand and two Taiwanese nationals who supervised the centre’s operation.

Is this some sort of Luddite group?

I thought Big Joke had been transferred to the office of Prawit "Watches" Wangsawan as his spokesperson plus shoe and watch polishing duties.

Seems instead he has a roving commission as a troubleshooter as well as being spinmeister for old "Sleepy Head" .

Yes, they object to the use of telephones, as it puts foot messengers and telegraph office staff out of work.

The Amish police?

Don't believe for a minute this guy and his goons were allowed to operate in Vietnam.

OUCH it appears Big Joke still has his days and nights mixed up, even after his 'promotion' as Prawit's assistant[?].  Hmmm... maybe he should borrow one, or 2 or 3, of porky's "borrowed" luxury timepieces so he can wake up on time and give his media briefings during normal daylight hours. ?  :shock1:

Why did they send the tourist police?  Because the Thais were tourists in Vietnam ?
