I’m wondering what people would consider the five best beach areas in Thailand if you’re looking for places that are wide open and generally free of tourists.

I’m particularly interested in areas that are easy to access by car and don’t require a lot of effort to reach. Islands usually involve more time and effort, so I’m thinking more about coastal beach areas that are relatively easy to get to and don’t require traveling too far south.

I realize I might be asking for a lot, but I’m assuming there are places that fit this description in areas such as Rayong, Chumphon, or Prachuap Khiri Khan. I’m just not sure how many other places like this there are.

Basically, I’m looking for long, open beaches where you can walk for a while and not feel surrounded by tourists or resort and hotel development.

What would your top five be?

There's a guy on YouTube who used to live in Hua Hin and has some videos about the beaches south of there, which, from the videos, seem to be what you're looking for. Look up Side Trip Life or something like that.

One of these days, I'm going to take a trip there vis the train from Bangkok.

If you avoid weekends, endless number of beaches, all down west side of the Gulf. Assuming you're not too interest in swimming in. With locations mention, also assuming Gulf coast.

Even well known places, such as Sam Roi Yot, don't get many tourist, especially weekdays. With that, 5 local beaches near me, Prachup KK province (N to S)...

... SRY beach

... Wa Khao beach

... Ao Prachuap, north shore (split by bridge from south)

... Ao Manoa, (weekdays)

... Beach on back side of Waghor Aquarium

Most of the coastline from SRY to Ban Krut, 100+ kms, is undeveloped, so stop anywhere along there, and you find long stretches sand between the estuaries.

Go a little further south from Prachuap to Huai Yang, you can walk about 7km north or south; you might might see a couple of people if you're lucky. Very little development, just a few restaurants, and a handful of resorts along the coast.
