NLA does not intend to amend Political Party Act

BANGKOK, 27th August 2018 (NNT) – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) is not planning to initiate a revision of the Organic Political Party Act, confirming that it has no intention of intervening in the work of the Election Commission (EC).

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitchochai gave a strong assurance today that the legislature won't make any recommendations in regard to the primary vote system which is stipulated in the Political Party Act, because it doesn’t wish to interfere or influence the electoral body’s decisions.

He commented that the lawmakers have already approved the act and will not seek its amendment, unless requested to by the EC.

The NLA president suggests that any changes made to the political party law could potentially delay the election roadmap, given Section 77 of the 2017 Constitution which requires all legal amendments to pass a public hearing, a time-consuming process.

Pornpetch then declined to comment on the lifting of political restrictions, saying the decision rests solely with the National Council for Peace and Order.

Why would it?  The NLA, just like the 2017 'constitution', was created by and for Fearless Leader P strictly to serve him, and his agenda, so it makes no sense NLA would interfere in any way unless directed by Little P himself.  Hmmm... on second thought NLA could give P another excuse to further delay the 'upcoming' election. Hmmm....

Rest easy Junta. All the work that will give them the advantage are already in place.

Constitution 20 years military domination

MMA election system

Early campaigning

Appointed senators

Pork barrel and populist policies

Buying MPs

Banning political rivals

Junta appointed EC president

Constitution allowing outside PM

If junta still can’t win, they still can plan for the next coup.

Sigh. There's always an "unless" to everything this rotten bunch does and says just to keep the door ajar..

Indeed.

Rest assured that they probably have a number of contingency coup strategies in the offing to cover any situation that might present itself if things don't go their way.

Historically, coups and counter coups are the lifeblood of Thai political machinations and the bane of Thailand's existence.
